I'd be the last guy to give you tube recommendations for any amp (due to my limited knowledge and experience), but shortly after I got my Prosonic head some years ago, I retubed with a full set of Ruby tubes with matched 6L6's from Antique Electronics Supply (a premier sponsor of the FDP). I was and am very pleased with the result, for not a lot of money, either.
Of course, if you have access to NOS tube stock from a trusted source, I am sure there are much better alternatives, but I get good value and performance from the Ruby's from AES.

Hello Prosonic users,
I'm considering to change my Prosonic combo in a head version. Most important reasons to do so are 1.reduce the weight
2.the chance to use different cabs with different speakers
3.I really need reverb so just get the head version is not an option for me.
Anyway, should a tech be able to mount a 4/8/16 ohm switch same as on the head without changing anything? Or does the head indeed uses another OT than the combo? I would like to change as less as possible on my amp you know so I can change back to the original combo when I want.
Thanks!

Hi All -
I'm considering picking up a used Prosonic, but I need help with the Effects Loop. For a dirty amp, I always run a little delay for leads. I normally use a MXR Carbon Copy, but I don't think this will work with the Prosonic. Anyone have successful experience using a delay pedal in the loop?

...I'm all in....I just picked up a Prosonic and my tech is giving it the business. Is the template for the 14" tilt-back-leg install still available?? If not, can somebody forward me the dimensions for the hole locations? Looking forward to playin" the beast !!!

Count me in too! I bought my '96 2x10 combo (LO serial) a few days ago. Loving it so far. It has a HUGE "Pop" when switching channels and it gets HOT too. I'm hoping to research this thread for some clues and help on it, but for now I' really, really loving the OD channel. It's different from my Marshalls or even my Boogie Mark III Blue. It "feels" different (in a fantastic way). Setting the 2nd gain high and the 1st gain low adds so much to my playing. I wouldn't complain if it stayed on the drive channel forever.

Hi, I have a red 1997 Prosonic combo, with black grille-cloth. Haven't seen another, they all have the silver grille. Can anybody tell me if this is stock, or has been added later? I think it looks great!
thanks, Bill.

just bought a '96 LO.... clean channel is really dark and doesn't have the fender sparkle of the vibrolux that I was looking for.... Clean is dark and gain channel is too bright when eq'd for the cleans... Could that be a preamp tube? Probably needs all new tubes, maybe even caps. Any suggestions before it goes to the tech?

also, looked into doing the Zinky mods... the ceramic disc caps on the tube sockets? only one I see is on V1... will cutting that out brighten & open up the amp?

This is a nice thread even if the last post is 2 years old by now.
Anyway, I finally picked up a Prosonic at a great price. It's the best amp in the house now, among Princeton Reverb II, Super Champ and it's younger brother, the Supersonic 22.
This may not be my last amp, but it'll end up being the one I played the most.

I came *so* close to buying one of these from a fellow FDPer a few years ago after hearing him play it at an FDP Jam. Wish I had now as they're virtually never up for sale here now.
