...what's more embarrassing then owning 8 Toros?

How about adding two more!

I fleabayed two MIA Toros in the past week to make it an even 10. I promise this is it!!!!

Dragonfire, how about some pictures of that collection? I still keep an eye on the Toronado auctions, lately it seems they've started thinning out.

"...they've started thinning out."

Maybe because I am buying them all :)

You are right, there are certainly not a lot of them. I'm looking for a copper one myself!

BTW I sent you a pic.

Thanks for the pic!

And if you manage to buy every last one, Fender has a new option for those of us who missed out when the getting was good, it's the, wait for it...

Actually a nice piece!

I have a Blizzard Pearl Blacktop Jaguar that I had Atomic HBs installed with a coil splitting push pull volume pot which is pretty much the same thing except for the single coils.

Wow, new posts in the old haunt! Hey DragonFire and Iversen, thanks for keeping Toro alive!
I'm still hanging onto my first run MIM in two-tone burst...love that thing...love the neck. I did pick up a Blacktop Jag, Iversen, the neck feels quite close to the Toro, but it just doesn't have the same vibe. Still love the Toro!
I always keep my eyes open for Toro's being sold locally or on websites, but you're right...not many around anymore.

Welcome back Bluesmama. Happy to hear you still swing a Toro! My Black Toro is first generation and still my favorite. I find my Jag feels closer to the later released Toro than the earlier ones.

Wanted something different in the Crimson MIA Toro I bought a few months ago. Decided to have some Jason Lollar, Lollartrons installed. Basically a bit hotter Filtertron. Beautifully chimey but drive it a little and it barks and growls. Super pick-ups

I was just about to post on how there were no decent Toro sightings on the Bay, Reverb, or CL when a black MIA (looks to be a Highway 1)popped up. I waited at least 15 minutes for you guys to buy it now but none of you moved.....so I did:)

"I promise this is it!!!!" (that was my quote back in March...but I had my fingers crossed behind my back so it doesn't count!)

I may be preaching to a choir of one here (me!),but I finally caught up to a copper Toro. I am not sure if there are two different colors in the copper or the metallic caramel. It certainly looks different. I will not get it for a week but I have waited a long time to find one of these. I retire in 5 days so this is probably my last purchase as a fixed income and a wife may put an end to this GAS frenzy I sustained for the last couple of years. I guess my next purchase will necessitate a thinning of the herd before I move forward. I will report back when I get it.

Thanks for posting Ernie!

I just ordered a Seymour Duncan Jazz pup for the neck and a SD JB for the bridge. I will coil- split both pups, replace some scratchy pots and change the switch throw to up and down (ala Les Paul) instead of horizontal. As you can see this is a later model Toro with the earlier model pickguard installed. I didn't do that mod and while this looks great I don't advise this. On closer inspection you will notice that the bridge pup pocket can be seen ever so slightly peeking through the bottom of the pickguard. The pick ups on the earlier Toros are actually closer ( 1/2") than the newer versions!!! So to make this work you will need to rout out some wood to make it fit. This is not recommended for the faint of heart!

To Add...

I also ordered a set of Seymour Duncan P-rails and the Triple Shot system for the US Highway 1 I bought in January! You gotta love Toros to be this obsessed!

Back at you Bluesmama. Snowbirding in Florida for two months and I could only bring one guitar. I brought the first Toro I bought brand new in 98 from picture since no one carried them in NY/NJ.
