I'm a big fan of Fender offset guitars, but prefer the 24.75" scale length. I think I would like to find an American made Tornado, but it's difficult to find information on them (much less actually find one for sale). What are the preferences between Mexican and American models among forum members on this thread?

Hey welcome to the thread, the Toronados both mex and USA (and some Korean ones as well) have been discontinued for quite a while so you would need to look used.

The mex ones have the wide range humbuckers and the large pickguards, whiles the USA model sported the Atomic humbuckers or "Dove" P90 style pickups and a more gibson inspired look.

I only have a mex one.. so cant comment on the USA model, but mine is a great guitar got is new in 2002 and been playing it ever since.

Many years ago when this thread started I put together a page with info on all the models and loads of pics.. hope it helps !

Thanks for the response. I will checkout the web site. Yeah, I knew the Tornados are no longer in production, and it's getting hard to find a decent one used.

I was aware that there are some differences. It's interesting the range of opinions comparing the American and Mexican models. The information posted in more recent years seems to suggest more folks like the older (version) Mexican models. I didn't realize the humbucker pickups were different between the two.
