Does anyone have an idea about the quality comparison between a new guild starfire III or IV and a epi elite sheraton, casino, etc.
Thanks

I have a Corona-built SF4 now and owned an Elite Casino last year for awhile. Both of the examples I have owned have been top drawer, as far as quality goes. Components, fit-n-finish first rate.

Look for secondhand Starfire III and IV's, they're incredible bargains that make me wonder what makes people buy epis in the first place.

I have had a Corona SF III/P90s, a Westerly SF II and a Westerly SF III.
I have also had an Epi Elite Casino.
The Westerly SFs were EXTREMLY Great guitars. I wonder why anyone would ever buy a Gibson, the quality on these was pure perfection.
The Corona made SF was not nearly as nice, not my first coice. That guy made it to Ebay.
The Epi Elite Casino is every bit as good as the Westerly made SFs. And there was no comparison between the Elite and Korean made, two entirely different qualities.
Either or, I cannot imagine anyone being unhappy with either of the brands.

I also own an Epi Casino Elite and agree totally with the above.

Well, here is an update...
Down to one Westerly made Guild Starfire III P90. Elitist Casino I still have as well as the Elitist Sheraton. Regarding the Guild, the 2 that I Have owned that were made in Corona were not the same quality as those made in Westerly.
The Coronas had much worse fit and finish and setting the intonation was very hard. The SF III P90 made there was terrible, there was nothing that either I or Pittsburgh Guitars could do to make the buzz go away.
It's been just over 8 years since I wrote the post above, and I still hold to it. One of the brands is not better, they are both top shelf. Seriously, I would not entertain the idea of buying a Gibson counterpart.

I still love my Casino Elite. Notice that in 2004, these were called "Elite". They are pre-lawsuit and I have noticed a few departures from the original specs or they are just listing them differently. But, Elite or Elitist, the Japanese factory that builds them is 1st rate. The upper end Gretsch guitars are also made there. The Elite/Elitist series are real bargains.

I own both a Westerly Guild SF III & an Elitist Casino. Obviously there are differences but in terms of quality I would call it a draw; Both are superb professional quality instruments.
