Any famous players performing with the 50th? The only one I saw was Albert Lee at the 2004 Strat Party (Wembley Arena, London). It was the AmSe with a nice grainy body. Sounded great!

I've been playing my 50th a lot more lately. the truth is most of this year i've been playing a Gretsch. my 50th always puts a smile on my face... such a great tone! and yes! it's better with a rosewood neck... hehehehe

I think that is a Blues Junior in a sunburst finish...check IronMan's profile pictures.

Gottabe:

Sorry for the late reply.

MikeEC got it right. The matching amp is indeed a Fender Blues Jr in sunburst just like the 50th..... and it is in my profile.

Mine still has the plastic on the p'guard and tremelo plate.
I haven't picked up a guitar in ages, but the last week or so I've been thinking about taking this one out of it's case. I own quite a few Strats, including a few few vintage pieces, but this is the one that's calling for me. I went through almost two dozen before I settled on the one I have, a truly great Strat. I much preferred it over the CS 54's I tried.
Fender hit a home run with these.

"It's American select moh crimson red"

The 2004 50th Strat anniversary was never produced in crimson red, only in two color sunburst and a MIM version in Aztec gold.

Well I went on Ebay yesterday and they have a black 50th. The one I bought is a 2004 per the ser# on the head stock. The back plate has the 50th logo. This guitar looks just like American Deluxe. It's at the place that does work for me and I'm gonna have them pull the neck and see if the ser#s match. If your curios goggle it. Better yet Guitar center in Rhode Island has it under their used gear if they havn't taken it off yet. This guitar might be going back for a refund. Could they made a special run of these for someone? Any comments. This is my first Fender so help me out hear guys' Thanks. I may have gotten screwed LOL but I can still return it.

Guitars3:
There is a Fender 50th anniversary and a Stratocaster 50th anniversary. 2004 was the year of the Stratocaster 50th anniversary guitar.

The 2004 "spotless" 50th black Stratocaster on ebay is fake although the back plate logo is correct. I am pretty sure that Fender did not have a run of black ones. Call up Fender and they'll tell you if the serial number is correct for a 50th Stratocaster anniversary.

Guitars3:

All 2004 American made strats have the 50th anniversary neck plate.

The ones Fender made to specifically celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Strat only came in 4 models,.CS,Deluxe,AmSe,and the MIM one,..and as Iron Man said,.all were 2 tone sunburst/maple neck,.except the MIM which was "golden".

longhair is right.

i see lots of people on ebay selling "50th ani's" but they are just strats madein 2004 with the 50th logo neck plate. and they try to sell for more than they should.

the differnce would be the wood is ash not alder and the pick ups are different. pick gaurd too

not that yours is a bad guitar, it's just not a 50th anniversary modal. so don't over pay :)

After owning three beautiful 50th Strats I found a 2001 2-tone AMSE (ash/maple) with nice grainy & lightweight body and dropped in CS 54 pu´s. Basically the same guitars but the neck is a bit thicker which is more to my liking. Always wanted to keep one of the 50th but could´t get used to the thin neck shape, pity. Had to learn to live without the Anniversary neck plate and case badge, but it is possible. :-)
