Heya Fender guys, would it be possible to get a Jimmi Page Telecaster model. It would be a 1958 Tele with top-loader bridge and rosewood fretboard. It would also be cool if it had the custom paint and pick gard Jimmi Page created for his Tele (a bow included would be a sweet touch). I know this is asking a lot, but could you possibly price it around $500 to $600 so us normal people could afford it? Below is a vid link with great views of Jimmi's Tele.

Given how much the current Page Les Paul costs I doubt Pagey would go for a Mexi range instrument, assuming of course he'd even be interested. More likely he'd make Fender duplicate his brown mid '60s one with the stringbender.

Highly doubtful someone so identified with another guitar (even blessing a BIG $$$ signature model), would consent to a signature model of a guitar he used for a fairly small fraction of his work.

Just my $.02 (and I'm a fervent Page fan too!)

And just one more thing, Fender, when you apply the signature decal to the headstock, make sure it reads "Jimmy Page" and not "Jimmi Page"

And make every buyer of this model take a spelling test first (just joshin')!!

actually jimmy used a tele for some of his best work. the first 2 albums and many other songs were all tele. the solo in stairway was a tele as well. i think it would be rather fitting, but i do doubt page would go for it

Pretty well known that he used a Tele for some of his best work, and through a Supro amp ...

I have interviews and articles that note he used a Les Paul as his main electric guitar on Zep II. (Sorry Eryan).

That's what I'd heard, too, that the 1st album was all Tele but after that he recorded mostly using LPs.

His Tele [as used on the first album] got stolen so it would be like rubbing his nose in it and it would have to be recreated from memory so it would not necessarily be accurate.

Are you sure that Page's original Tele was stolen? I read somewhere that a "friend" refinished it for him without Page's knowledge or consent and that it was never right after that. It could have been stolen at a later time though.

Isn't funny that some Pages best Zep was with the Jeff Beck Day-glow tele (1st Zep ,and Stairway solo) and Claptons ,Mayhall, and 1st Cream album done with a Les Paul that was stolen. The tone that so many guitar players have tried to cope since then ,and even now were done on guitars that both former Yardbirds are no longer identifed with.
Something to think about.

Yes I think a Jimmy Page Tele ( like the one with the psychodelic paint job) would be a real nice addition to the signature series/custom shop line.
Or maybe his chocolate brown? one with the B bender.

Is it me or is Jimmy's Tele a natural? It looks like it is sanded down because you can see the grain perfectly. Just an observation.

Hello,
Jimmy’s 59’ started life "white"

Below is a link for a 60's Tele® much like Jimmy’s,
Its Made In Mexico, and is looking very tempting!,

Snip from www.fender.com : "This Tele has the look and feel of the timeless 60s models and incorporates all their coolest features from the distinctive headstock and body shape to the 3-ply pickguard and rosewood fingerboard. Made in Fender's Mexico factory."

Fender® 60 s Telecaster

Also: Try some true hand wound Vintage Style pickups (Not Hot) you would be close.

Also, "That Sound" Jimmy sounded very consistent through a variety of amps on stage and off, This was his Sola Mark 3 Tone Bender's Job,
here’s a great reissue;
http://gundrymedia.typepad.com/throbak_electronics/

MF has it fairly priced around $669.00

Led Zeppelin I: Telecaster through Supro.

Led Zeppelin II: Les Paul through Marshall.

(info from at least 2 Jimmy Page interviews). The Telecaster was brought out again for the 'Stairway to Heaven' lead, and I believe he used one at least live at Knebworth for 'Ten Years Gone'.

A Stratocaster makes an appearance in 'Presence' (definitely on 'Hots on for Nowhere'), and 'In Through the Out Door' (definitely on 'In the Evening').

Not sure about the Danelectro....I know it was the guitar for 'Kashmir' and 'In My Time of Dying' live for the '75 Tour.

His most wicked solos in my opinion are those on 'Communication Breakdown', 'Dazed and Confused', and 'Hots on for Nowhere'...also gotta mention, Page's primary guitar with the Yardbirds, at least after Jeff Beck left, was the Telecaster.

Oh, a stolen guitar story I read from a Jimmy Page interview was a Les Paul Black Beauty...and another source, possibly Hammer of the Gods indicated the Black Beautywas the guitar given to Jimmy by Keith Richards.

Many years ago I heard an interview on Westwood 1 with Joe Walsh. Joe said that back in the day, the James Gang and Zeppelin where touring together. While on tour (actually I believe it was Zeps first US tour and they were James Gangs opening act)

Walsh said that Page was complaining about the size of the Tele's fat neck and that he (Page) didn't really feel comfortible playing on any of his guitars at the time.

Then Joe goes on to say that Page is not a big guy, he's kinda petite with small hands. Then Walsh says that he told Jimmy that he had a Les Paul that had the neck shaved so it had a thinner neck profile. He said he showed it to Page and let him play it. Page loved it and Walsh said he gave the guitar to Page.

The Walsh goes on to say that the guitar he gave to Page was "THE Les Paul" that Page went on to make famous in the movie "The Song Remains the Same" and throughout his career with Zep.

This was an interesting interview where Walsh talks about much of the early hard rock scene back in the day. This interview was back in the mid 80's. Walsh also said that there was a concert promoter that had offered the Eagles 1 million dollars per member to do one last show if he could have all the rights. Joe said that there would be no Eagles reunion, besides, 1 million bucks wasn't enough money!

Later on, I read a similar accounting of the guitar that Page got from Walsh in Jimmy's own words. Page's story was pretty much the same as Walsh's except Jimmy said he bought the guitar from Walsh. I can't remember where I read it, but I did read it somewhere.

Considering the bad habits both guys had in the late 60's and early 70's, I would guess that the small detail or being a gift, or being purchased might be a little blured many years later.

Somewhere I actually have the Walsh interview on a casset tape. Joe Walsh and the James Gang's album "James Gang Rides Again" as well as Ritchie Blackmore and Deep Purple's "In Rock" are
the reason I picked up the guitar.

I often wondered how things might have been different if the guitar had never changed hands.

Jimmy could probably better afford to buy the LP from Joe than Joe could afford to give it to Jimmy. LPs were supposed to be a little cheap at the time, but....
