I've wanted to put up a page of my music for quite some time. For various reasons I just seem to have difficulty producing "finished" products.
Here are some recordings that I feel are at least ready for critique. Most of these recordings were done with my Boss BR-1600, or my friend's Pro-Tools lite. The first two songs are completely internet collaborations with an old bandmate all the way across the country, the second two are with locals friends. My contributions are guitar, bass and drum programming on the first two songs, and writing/arranging. I did not write the lyrics or sing.
I've read your critiques and really like how constructive you've all been so I value your opinions. Don't hold back. I know anything you say will go toward producing better music.

First, I tried to add you as a friend but myspace, doesn't recognize your email address from FDP.
1). Touch. Interesting song. I nice melody, and instruments. I kept hoping it would go somewhere. Everything was well done, but I kept thinking a surprise; a musical twist or bridge was coming. Alas I did not get one. Nice lead on guitar in middle part.
2). Middle of the Night. Very nice tone. Has a tone somewhere between U2 and Pink Floyd, with a nice 70's R&B groove. I would like to see you get to the vocals a little quicker. Keyboards and backing vox are pretty. I was not sure of this was going to be an instrumental until the 1:55 mark when the main vox came in. Given the song is 2:51, I was hoping you would vamp this one out a little longer. A lot to work with here.
3). Don't Change. Starts with a 70's disco beat and wah wah. This one is reminding me of what Radiohead would sound like if they played in the 70's Better mixing on this one. Check the notes you are playing on the guitar and bass part at 1:55 mark. Seem out of sync with the melody you are singing. The song ending seems to drag on.
4). Running Out. Coming at me like REM thru a Marshall on the verse. The chorus is a little disappointing. I was hoping you would continue along the same path, and got 80's metal. The "REM thru a Marshall" would have been an exciting vision to continue on.
Overall, some really nice music. I like the second 2 a little more than the first 2. Some very interesting melody ideas and instrumentation. Extremely promising material. I look forward to more.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my songs. I really appreciate your critique. It's interesting for you to recognize a 70's influence to some of the work. I never would have recognized it myself. That's why it's so nice to get feedback. Your critique was very constructive and I can agree with most of your assessments.
Touch - I was going for a bridge/breakdown in the middle, but it may not have been effective.
Middle of the Night - This one is still a work in progress. It was pretty much rejected by my main rock band which is why I've used it as a collaboration project with an old friend. I'm still waiting for him to produce vocals on it!
Don't Change - I think you are referring to the chorus where the guitar/bass is out of synch. Yeah, that's been bugging me. My bass player is playing too "outside" on that.
Running Out - I started playing guitar in the 80's and have a strong metal streak in me. I can't help it! I'm also fond of the 80's alternative bands like U2 and REM, so you'll hear alot of those two struggling to get out. The chorus singing is rough. The singer is definetly struggling. That section needs to be re-worked.
Most surprising is your 70's comparisons. I was just a kid in the 70's but I still love the music, being that's what my parents listened to. I love music from all periods and get strange looks when I play doo-wop, motown and golden oldies around my friends! I also love jazz, but bands are a compromise you know? They only want to play rock.
