This may be old news and already used here. But I'm new to the FDP group, and was turned onto my first set of Rumples a couple months ago. I asked Aaron for advice, he fired back a few questions and built me a custom set that is just Amazing for my Strat. I just purchased a new 2010 American Special Tele, and had to order a set for that too. First thing Aaron told me was to use the guitar first before changing pups to see if I liked it they way it came. That honest approach will keep me a customer forever! I did, for about 2 days :-) I knew I already wanted another set of Rumples, they are really that awesome.

If this has already been started and old, well then, thank you Aaron, I'm very pleased and wanted to share that with others. And for those who have not tried a set of Rumples, just go do it! They are about half the cost of any custom hand wound pups you'll find. I've ready many other posts here saying the same thing, this guys has the Magic Mojo! No, I have no affiliation with Rumpelstiltakin, just sharing the love.

I'd like to hear other's comments on their sets!

Oh yeah, I'm in!

Amongst all the many things that are great about these pickups, one BIG one for me is how you can get a pickup made to your specifications. This lets you really zero-in on your tone. And of course, having that Magic Mojo on top of everything else makes it such a no-brainer.

Three sets so far, and not done yet...

I'm several sets into 'em, and they all are *stellar* pickups. Ultra responsive. You will get great tones out of them through any amp, but a quality tube amp makes them sing.

Rumpels rock, loving my A3 Tele set. Responsive, and can go from snarly to sweet by varying pick attack and guitar volume. Agree with Peegoo that a good tube amp helps get the most out of them.

Just a Tele neck so far.... When the job situation changes there are definitely more in my future.

Aaron was able to wind a neck pup that was exactly what I needed to to match a pretty decent bridge (Esquire) pup. Exactly what I wanted: 2 distinct pup tones that come together with a unified voice... all without seeing or hearing the other pup, but from my description of the guitar and Esquire pickup

The set of Rumpel White Ropes in my homebrewed Tele through my Ampeg Reverberocket II w/Celestion Blue Alnico is killing my status as a Strat player.

I just started this thread to spread the good word. But now I'm drooling for my Tele Rumples to arrive! I didn't go with the White Ropes I originally planned, Aaron is winding me something very custom to my requirements. This guys is truly amazing, told him what I was playing, what I'd like to do with my new baby, and he just simply said "Ok, got it". I'll report back in a few weeks when they arrive and I get them dialed in.

Don't get me wrong, I can't put my Strat down that we custom wound for me, but I gotta get that Tele sing'in :-)

Aaron is one of the best guys to work with. He also makes great pickups that are exactly what you expect and more.

I have a set of the Pre-CBS pups in my '86 MIJ '57 reissue. Perfect match, they sound killer. My ultimate strat sound through a clean blackface amp.

Just got my set of slightly modified Black Ropes for my 2010 Tele Special. WOW. I asked Aaron to wind the neck a little warmer for my blues. But I find I play more with bridge so far, nice bright twang!

Just ordered my 3rd set. Aaron's Masterwounds! I just completed a restore of a 1988 57RI, complete original. All date codes and serial numbers match, but I just have to try them there :-) I'll let you all know.

all partscasters, all the time...

The set for my 'blackguard' partscaster is in the mail - Aaron sent them out Friday. Bridge is a 1950 Black-Rope wound a little hot (~9.5K), neck is a standard Black-Rope. They're RWRP and Aaron used a raw nickel cover on the neck p/u since the guitar is a light relic. He even added a separate cover ground lead for the neck p/u to make the install easier with a 4-way switch.

Can't wait to hear them through my Mission 5E3. Too bad I probably can't get to work on it until next weekend...

Aaron Masterwounds are vintage sounding with extra mids. Nice pick attack. Very articulate. Sounds really good with the Blues I play. Overdrives my SRRI just right to get the sweet spot at 5 on the volume with no pedals. Exceptional is all I can say.

Aaron, do you think you could post the sound clip of the originals side by side with your copies.

There is definitely some old school majic going on here.

If I remember SMARK loaned a set to Aaron so he could copy them.. Thanks SMARK!

They have a killer in your face presence.

If the amp is set right you can get them to honk.

SMARK can you add anything else?

so how do they compare to fralins and lollars tonewise?

It's funny to see that every now and then a new pickup maker seems to be the hip aftermarket pickup maker of choice on the FDP. First it was fralin...then Lollar came a long and you read a lot about lollar...and now it seems to be Rumpel. No offense, just my observation.
