Is the preamp on the 22 the same as the larger model? It's not labelled Bassman/Vibrolux, but I'm hoping this is just semantics rather than a circuit change

The Supersonic 22 is based on the Deluxe Reverb so it's not really 22 watt version of the original or new Supersonic 60 watt.

prolux,
So what is the difference between the Vintage/Fat switch on the 22 and the Vibrolux/Bassman switch on the 60?

i do..look at the fender product reviews..you should really try the amp out in person ... not many people out there have done so yet so i suspect soon the amp will be on the map..go to the store where you saw it plug in a tel or strat in the clean channel crank it to two o'clock and you will see why i like this amp so much...then mess with the gain channel and there may be something in there you like...FORGET THE VIDEO'S OUT THERE ...try it in person.

How is this amp for clean headroom? Can it get loud without breaking up? I love my Deluxe Reverb but it just won't cut it for outdoor gigs where volume needs to be boosted.
The relatively light weight of this amp is very attractive, but for me, clean headroom is a must. Don't care about crunch or distorted, high gain sounds.

it does break up at about 1 o'clock but not drasticly .. as the volume is cranked it will break up ...i used it out doors already and i suggest getting the clean where you want and micing the amp...any out door gig should be mic'ed ....the amp doesnt go into pro jr territory and for that i like it ..a lot of clean head room is not what this amp is about...I would say fender clean & tone is what the amp is ,remember it's 22 watts (the 6v6's can be pushed into break up). I also have a carr rambler that to me is the best for volume & clean ,besides a twin...

Just played through one of these briefly. I've got to admit, I'm impressed. I didn't care for the 60 watt version when it came out, but this is a different animal.
I played a Les Paul Standard and a Custom Shop Strat. I found the clean channel to be full with plenty of low end - and it's not flabby like my old SFDR. The fat switch was a nice touch. Really helped to add some fullness to the tone, especially with the Strat.
The burn channel was a surprise. I've never heard an OD channel on a Fender that I liked, but this one has potential. I wish I had more time to spend with it today, but I got enough time in to make me want to check it out further. I definitely think this amp is worth a look.
Nice job, Fender.

So, not many of these out there yet?
I had an Original SS 1x12, thought it was a very capable amp, especially with some quality tubes. I'm very interested to hear how the 2 channels in the new "22" compare to the original, since it seems reported the preamp is not the same thing?

That may true with regard to the power section, but does that really apply to the preamp section?
I sure looks like the preamp has a lot more in common with the 50w SS than any Deluxe Reverb I've ever seen.

HELLIFIKNOW...it doesnt sound like a supersonic to me but seems to me it's an amp unto it's own, leaning towards a deluxe reverb for sure in sound..what i have found out after playing this amp is that when cranking the amp to high levels it breaks up in a nice way but with humbuckers the low strings break up a little "too much"...the highs on the other hand sound really good.very much like EC with an SG....so one must knock all the bass off the amp then dial in treble to taste and knock out the fat switch ..."all this at high volumes"...
But at lower volumes (before noon) the more it sounds like a deluxe....and one can dial in bass etc for a nice clean sound..
