What is the best pickguard color for my surf green Fender body and rosewood Warmoth neck?

Choices are: White, black, or tortoise red (I've put pics of the first two in my profile, see linky).

Considerations: a white pg is classic and cool with the green plus white binding, but the rosewood board and the strongly tinted maple headstock might abridge the classic look, so I'm wondering if I should take a different path.

The black pg gives the guitar some attitude. But is it radical just to be radical? I am not planning to have more than one surf green guitar.

What about a red tortoise pg, as an eclectic, in-between path? Red and green go together naturally, and these are both sophisticated versions of those colors.

The tinted headstock is a feature I am stuck with, for the present. So please opine on whether one pickguard color does a better job at pulling the overall look of the guitar together. Thanks.

"I have cream pearl on mine .."

Hadn't thought of that one; then there's yellow pearl. These combos strain my color imagination. I have trouble matching ties with shirts, too.

Yo dude, its gotta be cream ya know. Cream fits because often when you see a surf green its actually an original blue that has aged and ambered. The acompanying white or white pearl pickguard has ambered also resulting in a cream. My last surf green guitar was really a robbins egg blue with a coat of neck amber. I did this on purpose so that evenually the wear points on the body would yield the blue and the white primer undercoat.

I'm diggin the cream pearl right now. It fits the surf vibe and seems to pull all the other colors together.

Thanks guys ... er, dudes.

"I like mint on surf green."

Me too, but the yellowish tint on the headstock clashes, IMO. So I've ordered the cream pearloid.

Thanks. Now I have to practice up on soldering and get this puppy together.
