I just received the August GC catalog and there is limited run of American Special Strats in oly white, both SSS and HSS.
STOP IT Fender! I don't really want to buy another Strat right now, I just bought a dang G-DEC 3 Thirty and a Lone Star Strat pup assembly for one of my other Strats! (:oD

ps -- I've Am Special HSS Strats on a few occasions and really liked the neck a lot. Thus oly white color just might push me over the edge to buy one.

The sick thing is since my band broke up and I brought my one Marshall rig and pedal board home last week, the 2nd floor of our house looks like music store.
My wife has been very cool on the gear front lately, I don't want to push my luck. "But honey, its a limited run, what else could I do?"

I dunno...buying a guitar sight unseen doesn't sound too good to me. It's available online or at a store by special order only. It's sort of a "you get what you get" deal. So if you get a nine pound baby Strat, well...

That's good...problem is it's mail-order or by special order only at stores. Best-case scenario is you have to keep ordering and sending them back at your local store until you find one you like...or get told by the store-owner to go away (whichever comes first).

I think we have way too much choice now. Fair enough, I myself am ridiculously hard to please regarding the spec of my guitars from top to bottom, factor in everything - comfort, playability, aesthetics, its good that people of a range of budgets are catered for, but taken to its logical conclusion there are infinite gaps in the market.
you have to admit its clever marketing, cut certain costs on a guitar and call it a 'special' - like gibson do with guitars minus binding etc.
