The flatbed is fueled up and The Hillcrest Gang +1 is ready for the Monday night extravaganza. Gman, deepend, EggTVman, Lynn and I did the parade two years ago and it's still one of the best times I have ever had on stage.
We are going with two more band members, so it will be tight on the truck. The more the merrier. Afternoon is spent setting up the truck and quick sound check at gman's house. Then off the staging area where we should be able to do 15-20 songs will we wait our turn to get on the parade route.
Parade itself takes just under an hour. In 2009, there were 110,000 along the parade route. This is a 70+ year tradition for Toms River, NJ. Weather forecast is nippy, but dry. Last time we got the flatbed unloaded just before the rains hit.
Photos will be taken, noise will be made and ghouls will dance. This is one fun gig.

A fun day and night of music for the Beverly Hillcrest Billies Band. We got a band of 7 on a 7x17 flatbed and looked like The Clampetts at times. Loaded up the truck didn't get 1/2 mile when gman's keyboard stand and mic fell off due to a bump and I ran it over. Sorry G.
Parking lot staging area was a cluster. One fireman tells us to park in a specific spot. We do. Start the final setup of the truck and another fireman tells to us to move. Same thing happens again for a third time. Finally got back to the fireman who first told us where to park and that's where we wound up.
The band did a couple of short sets in the lot before we paraded. Respect, Pump It Up, Wooly Bully, You Can't Do That, One Way Out, Walking on Sunshine. good tight prep tunes.
Parade route was packed and took all of 50 minutes to cover. Songs Pump It Up, Sweet Caroline, The Breakup Song, Keep Your Hands To Yourself, Monster Mash, American Girl, Soul Man, Heatwave, Jenny, Jenny, Dancing in the Streets and Pump It Up again at the end of the parade route. Great response from the crowd.
Hairy ride home with the gear still on the flatbed. But made safe and the breakdown with a few beers went smooth. Nice end to a long fun gig.
Just found a real quick glimpse of Steve drumming from the local news. Yes he uses real chicken drum sticks.

Great video and pics, picnic. Your Dot almost looks squash-colored under that lighting.

It was a little chilly. Under my pimp jacket, I'm wearing a hoodie. Under the hoodie was my spinner necklace and clock. I was getting in touch with my inner Barney the Dinosaur Pimp

No it's a blonde Epi Dot. Blame the tint on the parking lot lights. My blueburst Ibanez AS-93 that Littlehand played at the jam didn't go along for the ride.
I got to thank Kevin (iuse2noit) for driving the truck. Sorry about missing that. Nobody fell off from a popped clutch. Kev said he learned to drive a stick on a GTO. +100
