I have a 6o's classic with Nordstrands and a custom J bass with Bartolinis /preamp. The new RW that I picked up plays great and sounds good but leaves me wanting more output and "nut" like my other basses. I thought about another set of Nordys but they would be a little too shiny in the RW. Has anyone dropped Duncan Antiquity II's into their RW Jazz? Did it make much difference over the stock pickups? Opinions appreciated.
Thanks-
TW

I have only played them in store but I really liked the stock pickups on both the J and P RWs. But you know Fender, maybe the pickups I played are not the same wind as in your bass.

Put a set of Antiquity II's in a 62'RI Jazz sounds great. Strung it with flats through a tube amp, Bootsy city !!

ya know I did this with my RW Jazz and I ended up going back to the stock pickups.Normaly I would change out the stock Fender pickups because I didn't think they were all that great, but the ones that came in the RW were really, really good
YMMV.

A pup swap to those wouldn't make a dramatic difference, IMO.

"The new RW that I picked up plays great and sounds good but leaves me wanting more output "

Many of the old "vintage" basses don't have that much output
but a mellower tone!

Just turn it up a bit...

Or you can get a Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster. Got mine used off eBay for $55 to use with a low-output old bass, and it's awesome.

"Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster"

What is the difference between this and more volume on your amp?

Same difference as between high-output and lower output pickups.

More grind and output as well as extra percussiveness. I use a cheesy Behringer bass OD pedal with my passive pickup bass to get that gets that "hot pickup and low headroom preamp" tone.
