That's the best amp ad I've ever seen - now I want one!

Sounds cool, and I love the ad, but I am leary of buying something I havent heard or nobody has reviewed other than a few magazines that never say anything bad.

It's new so go for it and sell it once you're done with the thing! Honeymoon is a ephemeral phenomenon ;-)

Ordered mine right after NAMM. There are a bunch of demo videos on YouTube and that's what made me pre-order it.

I'm just wondering if the amp will hit the market when we've been told it would? It could be a long wait.

"It's also possible we'll never even see this amp.
Every time I've been interested in an amp that was on order, they failed to hit the market. If they did hit the market it was at least a year late. Maybe Fender won't be that way but......."

Well...I sure hope Fender will deliver. I'm guessing (hoping) the odds are pretty good given the number of online retailers that are accepting pre-orders. The Fender website says they'll be available in April; and that's what at least one online retailer told me.

The specs look good but the price kind of scares me given the fact that you usually get what you pay for.

Those 'special design' speakers are also used in the G-Decs I believe and dirty up real good, but lack in the cleans, IMO. Hopefully the 15" spkr will sound better.

That accordian input might be interesting to experiment with too.

I have some of the same reservations, FGP. I figure it's worth the gamble at that price.

If it's any indication, it seems to come across pretty well in this vid...

does a accordian sound better with tubes? I guess if you do a few weird Al cover songs could be the perfect amp.

"Does an accordian sound better with tubes".

Well, you're basically playing a big bellows to blow through a wide range chromatic harmonica with a keyboard controller. Does a blues harp sound better through an overdriven tube amp? I call to stand to testify: Little Walter.

The videos do make it out to be a great amp, no doubt, and I hope that it turns out to be the case.

They also look cool as hell!

To put things in perspective...

Excelsior amp - $300 - made in China

Best value - the amp :)

I witnessed it first-hand at NAMM, and was quite impressed. It really sounded good, but it was hard to tell the quality of the build. I was a little surprised to see tremolo on it, but no reverb.

The place I ordered from is expecting them to ship the week of April 8th.

"I was a little surprised to see tremolo on it, but no reverb."

My guess is that they're trying to keep in character of a pre-'60s amp based on the aesthetics and mic and accordion inputs. Reminds me of the Gibson GA amps from the '50s that had trem and no reverb. Of course, it would've been really cool if the Excelsior also had reverb.

Perhaps a reverb would have been poorly executed with the no-room left in the chassis and driven up the cost. I’d use a reverb pedal, that will fix it.

I’ve never owned a guitar amp with a 15” speaker. With an open back cabinet it might sound big, room filling, open sound, or would it sound like a 12”, (although small cabinet.) How could it not be a hit with a Fender 6V6 tremolo setup.
A question might be: “Do you really need another guitar amp?” just say yes.

I had a Silvertone amp with a crappy Jensen 15" and 22 watts from 2 6L6GCs. It did not sound like a 12" for sure.

The Excelsior is on my short list

i was thinking about that same silvertone when wondering about this amp. is this thing a solid state or tube rectifier? i has no tone knob.... can the vibrato be pulling off the only preamp tube?...
