Are they actually going to stick with the Starcaster name? That name now conjures up a different image to the younger crowd whose parents buy their guitars at Costco!

"The grey carpet was frayed, drink stained, and flapping loose when I got the amp. It's now covered in denim from some of my old 501s."
Drink stained carpet or Levis stained from unknown origins....I think I'll vote for the former!

The prototypes look like they say "Starcaster" on the headstock.

One is a "Fender Starcaster" the other is the "Starcaster by Fender" line - definitely easy for the uninitiated to become confused, but aimed at very different audiences. They should have saved the Starcaster name for this comeback - the fact that they used it on their lowest line leads me to believe even Fender weren't figuring on bringing this back a few years ago.

Well Fender has officially announced them but does any dealer have them?

Andertons in the UK are taking preorders and say availability before the end of the year. I'd assume that they'll probably show up in the U.S. online stores, at least for preorder, any time now.

You honestly expect a non-extreme-cheap hollowbody to be less than a Strat or Tele?

I'd be more concerned if it *was* cheaper to be honest.

the black one is now in stock in europe... not sure though whether the price is worth it considering it's made in china, can def get a mex guitar like a cabronita thinline for the same money

opinions ?

It will be hard to say until inspecting one in person, but Chinese made Fenders have typically been of good quality. If it's as good as the Classic Vibe series, I'd say it is worth the money, MIC or no.

Just the cost to tool up to produce a whole new guitar is going to add to the bottom line. The Cabronita Thinline is a lovely guitar, but it's an amalgamation of existing parts vs. the Starcaster which has several unique features.

I ordered an aged cherry one from a GC a few weeks ago that opened in my area. Have to wait until November. If I wanted the black or natural I could have had it as early as tomorrow.....so they say. I think I'll stick with the cherry.

I ordered an Aged Cherry one in September and just found out GC doesn't expect shipment from Fender until Dec 25th. I sure hope these are worth the wait.

I don't understand why these have hit the market in Great Britain, as evidenced by Youtube, but I have to wait until late December???

I just started having GAS for one of these. I've heard youtube stuff, and it's not bad.

Anybody play one yet?

The imports hit the EU first for whatever reason.

It's been true of all of it the last few years - by as much as six months or more.

Bass VIs were literally there months before any widespread availability will be seen here where they're rare as hen's teeth, same was true with the previous two offset waves.

Finally got my Starcaster!!

First impression is it is a very sweet looking piece with a surprisingly significant heft to it(this is compared to my Ibanez AS93 that I bought off FDP'er Picnic) Glossy fingerboard...don't know if that's good or bad yet. Fit and finish is flawless. Nothing cheap feeling at all.
Let me play this for a couple of days and I will let you know how this is
