I have one. Just got it in a trade and determining if she is a keeper. So far I like, but would prefer the grey or red (I have blackie)

I could have had Pewter within a week. I don't know about red. I just figured if I was going to have an EC Strat, it had to be black. I have to wait until the next run. Probably about 2-3 months. It's ok, I'll wait. It's paid for and I'll get a free setup with my choice of strings by a trained luthier. They really do a great job. All I'll have to do is play it!

Congrats, hope the wait isn't too bad for you. Got a Blackie and it rules, you'll love it. Bet you want them in every color after you play that one for a while.

The Vintage Noiseless pups lend itself very well to the preamp on the Clapton Strat. The guitar sounds very percussive when played clean and gets nasty in a hurry once the preamp is cranked on a mildly distorted amp setup.

I still have my '94 "Blackie" but prefer my '50's Classic in surf green.

I got new one of the 2010 CS LTD EC Grey. Someone in this thread said the CS does not come with the TBX, incorrect. Mine has the TBX. Even though these are all Clapton signature models, he orders his without the TBX, so you may be able to special order one. Or just replace the TBX with a standard 250K pot if you don't care for it. The mid-boost is very cool!

I go back and forth. It feels great, but just not to crazy about the tone. It's basically built around a '56, I have a '57 AVRI that I like more. I may sell it, or trade for the right deal, there are a couple CS '56's I've had my eye on. Keep going back and forth. It's not my #1, I have a 335 for that :-)

Pete Townsend seems to like his EC Artist Strat quite a bit. He's used one consistently for quite awhile now.

I said that and I stand corrected. You are right, it is Eric that doesn't use it anymore or at least I read it.

Thanks for correcting me on that one.

If you didn't want TBX it seems like it would be a very easy fix.

It is, and I've actually been thinking about replacing mine with a standard tone pot. I rarely use it anyway.

I truly like the TBX on this guitar to be honest especially when turning up the boost control because the boost control compresses the tone and causes it to get muddy. The TBX brings some of the highs back and helps greatly in projecting the tone.

No. They said it would take 2-3 months because Fender had zero black ones in stock. I don't mind waiting for it because I know EM Shorts will go over it before they even call and they'll set it up while I watch until it's the way I want it. We're probably looking at mid-June but it's really hard to say.

Yeah, they tend to do lots of the same color all at once to speed up production - and black is a popular color.

It'll be worth the wait!

Whoo-hoo!

My EC Strat has arrived at the dealer. Sooner than expected! I may try to take of a little early from work today to pick it up. I'll probably play it as is for a couple days and take it back in for its free setup Saturday. That way I can address any issues.

Got it home an noodled around a bit with it. Love the soft V neck. Action is very low. I was really surprised. The luthier knew who I was and that I always had the action lowered on my guitars so he did a preliminary setup for me. I can go back anytime in the next 30 days and get a complete setup including my choice of strings. No chance to plug it in tonight. Quicky picture link below.
