I've always thought the classic line was the best bang for the buck and now my gas is increasing as I'm watching Fender discontinue the cool colors. Surf green and burgundy mist and sonic blue on the classic 60s are already gone. But I see the classic 50s still has surf green and I do like maple boards so now to wait for a good sale.

Grab one while you can. They are great guitars and I love the necks.

My Classic 50's is the best Strat I've ever owned (once I put in a set of Fralin pups).

How do you guys like the soft V shaped neck compared to the more common C neck? I'm ordering this guitar (surf green btw) without ever seeing one in person.
Also is the 21 frets an issue when your playing a blues pentatonic in A up there for example?
thanks

I have relatively small hands and I really like the neck on my Classic 50's.
Also, I can tell no difference in it from the one on my '92 '57VRI.

Tony, I don't really miss that top fret when I use the 21-fretters. It's only one note, and if you need that pitch you can bend to it pretty easily. You can also get the 24th with a 5th fret harmonic.
The V neck will not feel thin, but I find it very comfortable. If I were going to make a signature model Strat, it would have a soft V.

I bought one when they first came out. Got it out the door with a gig bag for $400.00. It was a great guitar. I did have to sell it about a year ago though. The arthritis in my hands and wrists didn't get along with the neck.

Soon all Fenders will be black, white or some ugly variation of sunburst. Who the hell is making the color decisions at Fender? If I want a black Strat I'll just spray paint it myself. Fender, please bring back all of the cool colors of the era.
