FDP Forum / The 'Pup' Tent / So how 'vintage' does the Twisted Tele sound

Hi guys,
I have the option to buy a 51 nocaster relic. It has a twisted tele neck PU. Now I would like a tele to sound like a tele - so play some raunchy blues on the neck and get that typical tele tone. Is the twisted tele pickup 'close enough' here or does it really emulate a strat? Because I do have a few good strats so I need no emulations, really...

My Custom Classic Tele had one.
Really nice pup but does get close to that typical strat neck tone (really it's claim to fame) and for me not different enough for me to keep it in the end.
Still one of the best tele neck pups out there IMO but I'm a strat man.

The Twisted Tele neck pup is as Alderdash says. It's more Stratty. However it still gives a lot of the Tele neck pup tone as one would expect.

It is a smaller pup but deeper in design which gives a stronger Tele neck pup tone. It is glassier and richer. It is a great pup. It is a twist on the original Tele pup and quite fitting to be called the "Twisted Tele" pup.

It is my favorite neck pup out of every Tele I own or have played.

By the way when I said a smaller pup above I didn't mean smaller than a tele pup. I mean't it is more stratty like a strat pup but still a tele pup in shape.

It is a tele pup except taller than the traditional tele pup so it is possible that you may have to make a deeper route for the pup to fit.
