I have a SQ Squier P Bass that looks all original to me. It has a B/W/B pickguard that looks as beat as the rest of it, but I read somewhere that the black ones came only with tort.

Can anyone verify this?

a quick google image search only shows up black basses with B/W/B 'guards
so maybe black with B/W/B is possible?

Black SQ guitars (Strats and Teles) had BWB guards...not sure about SQ P Basses, but I'd bet they were the same.

I looked through 21frets.com (good site for JV and SQ info) but couldn't find any pics of black SQ P Basses.

Yes, they came with BWB guards. I personally know of two black ones with BWB guards.
