I absolutely LOVE the new noiseless pickups in my AVRI 57..BUT..I noticed something the other day..The volume drops off noticeably in the 2 and 4 positions..i tried adjusting PU heighth, but nothing seems to fix the problem..So now I'm thinking I'll just go back to a 3 postion switch and say to H#ll with it..That's what the old Strats had anyway right? Anyone else had this experience? Thanks in advance Scott..

The 2 and 4 positions on a Strat produce a slight volume drop. Pickups are in parallel, resistance is halved.

Very much so with the VNs. But I've long fallen out of love with the in between Strat settings so it doesn't bother me too much.

Raising the pickup height usually resolves this with noiseless pickups. Another option is 2 and 4 wired in series, instead of parallel. This requires a 5way two wafer superswitch Fender part# 099-2251-000.
Here is a link to a FDP sponsor above.
Most guitar shops have them on the shelf.

I've found that the more overdrive/distortion, the less impact the volume drop has. Not helpful if you play clean all of the time. You can also drop the volume slightly when not playing the in-between positions.

I Play clean probably 75 percent of the time..So I'm thinking the new 5 way switch might just be the ticket..Thanks..

But be aware, the series wiring does not sound like the parallel wiring ... completely different story.
The effect that the in betweens have less volume is there on any Strat I ever played and I always liked that effect because it adds to the in between positions ...

Yes. It's a fact of life for Strats. Part of the vibe. Embrace it!
