I usually plug into the normal channel.
Pulled V2, V3, V4 and V5. Also unplugged the reverb. So now just V1 the phase inverter, power tubes and the rectifier (5 tubes)
- First I unplugged the reverb because I got bleed through even with the reverb off when playing into the vibrato channel.
- Next pulled V2 to have more current for the tubes and then kept pulling more tubes and the amp definitely feels more live and sounds richer with more detail. I never used the vibrato or reverb so nothing lost (did not really like the reverb).
The amp sounds the best it ever has.
1) So... will this damage the amp at all if 4 tubes are gone?
2) Would you expect any additional hum?
3) Is there a way to have both channels in phase with this setup?

1/ No. The heater voltage may rise a little, so it's worth checking that, but no other negative effects. The old data sheets advise a max heater voltage of 6.9V, current production tends to be 6.6V.
2/ The normal channel gain will rise ~6dB, so can expect noise & hum to rise similarly, but not more so.
3/ Don't understand this - the trem channel is not operational with all those tubes out, so pahsing isn't an issue.
If you want to put the tubes back in and get the channels in phase, Fritz has info on this on his profile.
Pete.
