I bought hi dollar ones and I stepped on them when I stood up which jerked the cable then they didn't work. So I am not sure if they are worth the extra. If this happens to my cheaper cables I can fix them.

I'm a fan of Mogami cables. I've had the same three for six or seven years and they are still going strong. The only ones I've ever had last as long were a couple Whirlwinds from back in the 70's (those lasted close to 15 years).

Note that I do take care of my gear, and am fairly picky about coiling them properly - no stuffing them in a box here.

I use Mogami 2524 and it's a great cable. I get mine from Lava Cables. Lasts a looooong time.

I bought one from Guitar Center and was told that I could return it at anytime duting my lifetime for a replacement should it no longer work. Not bad if actually true. But it was a mic cable I've used only a handful of times so no real abuse has occurred. Not sure about their guitar cables.

I know on Planet Waves cables they honor their warranty. I am still waiting for my replacemnt of the Fender Premium cable I bought that quit working. It sounds like Fender changed the cable style after I bought mine, so I have to wait.

Wired up my board with Mogami last year. When I was finished, it just didn't have the same sound as before, so I went back to George L within a week.

Same here on all of that. Decent cables alright but I like my Planet Wave cable also.

I liked George L cable alot but not their crappy connectors that just pinch into the wire for the connection. I soldered switchcraft plugs onto George L cable and used it for pedal board and it was fantastic but I don't like it for guitar cable as it is too easy to knot up and tangle. Also totally rewired a Gretsch 6119 Tennessee Rose using George L cable and new components and pickups with very good results.

I've had a couple of 15 foot Mogami cables for 6 years. Just this past weekend one of them crapped out at a gig right in the middle of a song! I'd say 6 years is a good run for a guitar cable though.

I noticed an instant clarity and volume increase and bought in bulk with Nuetrik connectors!!!

They are the difference for me and do recommend them to many....

When making the cables up, the Mogami cables have an extra ground sheild that also needs to be trimmed or they will short or lessen the signal, but it is an instant difference in your signal strength and truly noticeable...

+1 on like!

Mogami is priced quite high but they have a lifetime warranty that I can take it be to Guitar Center or send to Mogami for a replacement. They are quieter than my Planet Waves and I do notice a difference in tone between the inexpensive livewires that Guitar Center sells (which are decent)

JCV, return it to Mogami for a new one. Me, I'd simply repair it. The only way to guarantee a cable will last forever is to not play it. Considering the abuse a guitar cable takes, it amazes me they last as long as they do.

I cannot justify in my own mind paying $50 for a 20' cable. That's nuts. I make my own from Belden coax and all-metal Switchcraft plugs.

I do have a 20' Mogami that MF sent to me as a consolation prize for a goof they made on an order. It is a fine cable...a little stiffer than I prefer, but the Neutrik connectors on it are top notch.

I go to Redco.com for my cable orders and save lots o' cash and also get the Nuetrik connectors there. Many an item there and at a good price point....be careful, can get real expensive quickly!
Yes, top notch for sure!

Cables are a giant crapshoot on longevity; I have some bulk GC ones I bought in '96 or '97 still running that have been through hell.

I've had fancy ones die the first night.

As long as they've got decent connectors and aren't terribly chintsy on the wires, I call it good.

I've had really good luck with Pro Cables N Sound (PCNS). Decent prices and a quality product.
