So i bought a Custom shop custom classic off of ebay and it didn't fit my hand since the fretboard was a little wider than i thought it would be, it work for someone who wasn't a thumb over player but i am one. So now i am looking at only 7.25 radius guitars, basically 62 AvRI's and 57's AVRI's. My question is is this the right guitar? by all accounts it should be. Also since i live no where near a nice vintage guitar shop or a nice guitar shop i am stuck with Ebay, any help is greatly appreciated.

My suggestion to avoid buying and returning is to call the largest shops in the largest major city near you to see what they have. Then drive there on a Friday night or Saturday morning play 'em, stay over night and play again on Sunday...make your pic an come home happy and satisfied.

Don't know for the vintage (7.5) radius but since I got a Squier '60 Classic Vibe strat,I can't stop playing this thing. The neck is perfect for my little hands. Its radius is 9.5 but the width at nut is 42mm and the string spacing is narrower than on my American Series strat. And as a bonus, the Squier body is very ligth.
Maybe I have a little less sustain with the Squier but it justs fits my hand like a glove.
With new pups and harware this thing will be the dream strat to me, but it is already almost as is, stock!
YMMV

If you know exactly what shape & size you want the neck to be, why not look into having one made for you? Start with Warmoth, maybe.

I'm ready to get a Warmouth neck and set up a Strat to custom specs. But it took me a long time of playing Strats to know just what specs really suit me. Things like neck thickness and profile don't matter much when I pick up a guitar and play. It's only after playing 2 or 3 night club sets where I can be forced to stress the same points on my hand and wrist over and over that I really notice which profiles help keep my hand from cramping. Then, other preconceptions I held when I first started playing Strats didn't hold up in the long run. So, this is just me, YMMV, but if I designed my own custom Strat before I put enough serious bar band time playing Strats, I would have come up with the wrong guitar.

If you like that 7.5 radius neck, the '57 and '62 AV Strats are *very* nice guitars. I had a '62 for a number of years but sold it to another FDPer after I got my CS '56 NOS Strat that I had a hand in (picking the neck and body blank).

I'd pickup a 50 Classic in Surf Green before they are all gone. Any thing more than that can be done with pedals!

That is correct. A MIM Classic 50 or AV 57 RI Strat with a soft V may be what you need. My MIM Classic 50 Strat has got a great neck.

I went to a shop and played a maple boarded Sunburst American deluxe and found the compound radius to be perfect, also the v neck is great. i went ahead and bought one, and i love it, so finally i found it. even though i may be out a couple of bills because of returns and shots taken in the dark it was worth it to finally get the Strat. Also the guitar sounds amazing. I will actually be posting pictures of this one.

So you went from "I'm only interested in vintage radius necks" to "this compound radius is perfect".
Another strong case for the "play before you pay" strategy. (;^D)
Always good to hear a story with a happy ending - glad you found YOUR guitar.
Congrats and Enjoy!!!

you can't buy one guitar and then nail it on the next one. Finding the right guitar takes at least 25 guitars. I must have had over 50 before I found the one. No shortcuts to happiness.
