I know, I know, another sort of gear topic but it's really more about general appeal as to what you're drawn to more these days.

I have found myself gyrating to acoustic far more than electric recently. Just a guitar and a song. Know what I mean?

I've been through this before over the decades where all I wanted to play was acoustic and the electrics sat in their cases. I'm in that phase again.

I never really get into an acoustic phase. I like electric too much.

Electric. I like steel string acoustic guitar, but you need to work harder than on an electric.

BUT . . . nylon string acoustic is just as easy to play as an electric guitar (except for string bending).

"I have found myself gyrating to acoustic far more than electric recently."

No offense, Chris, but I REALLY hope you mean "gravitating"! I'm trying not to picture you gyrating...

Electric definitely, but I really REALLY want an acoustic that a) I love as much as my fave electric and, b) stays stable in my house of humidity horrors. I have an old farm house. My current 2 acoustics, a Taylor Mini GS and a 69 Gibson J-45 have been behaving themselves in the case with humidipaks, but dang that method gets expensive. I really like the Taylor, it's a riot. The J45 plays well but is pretty small voiced...I want a Cannon. I reckon next house.

It's gonna sound strange, but the least expensive guitar I own is my favorite to play. I own some nice guitars and really don't deserve to. Real talented musicians should. Not me.

I have a Taylor GS Mini that is amazing. It's a cheap wood Maybe not even real wood) but man..... this plays so easy and sounds pretty good too.

Guess the answer is acoustic. Oh, and when I do play electric, I don't plug in to an amp. Haven't 'amplified' in years.

Acoustic, no doubt.
I told Mrs. String, "when I go you can give all the electric stuff to the kids, but the Martin goes w/ me."

I wonder if it's an age thing? Although, like I said, as a young man, after an initial rush to electrics, I still liked acoustic better much of the time. I wish I'd bought a Martin then! Now, it would be vintage. ;o)

I played Accoustic (12 string) excusively for more than 30 years using only two guitars along the way. Then, I re-discovered the electric about 10 years ago. 8)

I tell ya, after playing 12 string accoustics for that amount of time, the electric guitar, any electric guitar, plays like buttah! 8)

Sounds like a smooth jazz/adult contempo group.

I've become almost exclusively an acoustic guy over the last few years. I think a big problem is that a lot of electric guys don't know just how playable an acoustic with a good setup can be.

Yes, acoustic strings are usually a larger gauge than electric but 11's on my OM feel darn close to 11's on my Strat.

If you play at all now, it will only take a few days of acoustic playing for your fingers to get used to the difference. Again, that is if you have a decent setup.

For me, acoustic playability boils down to how good and accommodating your luthier/guitar tech is. If you haven't got a good one locally, there are several around the country who do excellent work.

Almost everyone who picks up one of my acoustics (no matter what brand) comments on how great the playability is.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I have never, irregardless of brand or model, purchased a new acoustic guitar that didn't need a setup to play the way I wanted it to. I have also never purchased a guitar that couldn't be set up the way I wanted.

Over the past few months I have been on the Acoustic side as well.

Some friends and I had about 5 years of weekly plugged in basement jams but the drums and vocals bailed a little over a year ago.

I started getting together with guys I met here about once a month for more plugged in crazyness which was also cool.

Not long ago, an opportunity arose for a Sunday afternoon Acoustic Jam at a cajun joint. We played the patio and it went so well we were asked to return.

Our 4th gathering will be the 20th and we are adding new faces each time.

I am enjoying the acoustics so much, I have not plugged in an electric in months. I am sure it will change again but when I walk into a music store now, I am hitting the acoustic room and the PA's.

YMMV

I'm still plugging along on stuff like this.

Except for that singing part, it's not terribly difficult, so much as it is just about having so many hours doing it:

I prefer to play electric but, do enjoy acoustic.

From a watching/listening perspective, I am more captiviated watching a great acoustic player than I am a great electric player. Someone like Tommy Emmanual for example.

I've always leaned more to acoustic. Mainly because I can't play a note of lead.
