When I turned 55, I discovered that I could get the senior rate at the golf course. It was a pretty good discount too, but I always had to ask for it.
This morning, the guy behind the counter looked at me and asked, "Senior?"
So, in addition to feeling my age now, I guess I look it as well.
Seems like last week I was getting asked for I.D. by the bartenders.

One of my fishing buddy's called me last week and asked me if I wanted to fish the Senior Trail Bass Tournament Trail up in Orlando next year.
I laughed at him saying sure why not, then I realized he was serious.
Then he explained the minimum age requirement is 3 years younger then myself.
Then I tried jumping in front of a north bound train.

For me, these have been some of the benchmarks of my advancing age through the years:
1) Always been a baseball fan. At some point in my early 30s, I realized that I was older than most MLB players.
2) I was a deputy sheriff for 28 years. At one point towards the end of my career, it ocurred to me that we were hiring new deputies that hadn't been born yet when I got hired.
3) In 2008, this country elected, for the first time, a president that was younger than me.
The next benchmark that I can see in the future is my 62nd year. I'll have outlived my father by then, and will be eligible for Social Security, if it's still around.

Too many people think my kids are my grandkids. That pisses me off although it's a reasonable mistake.
On the other hand, I can take college courses for free. Then again, the kids in class could be my grandkids...

They don't even ask me anymore...apparently, my appearance makes it quite obvious. Interesting since I spent most of my adult life having to show ID as I always looked younger than my actual years.

Mine started early. My older brothers sent in a request postcard to a hearing aid place with my name on it.
I was 14 at the time. And hearing was fine.
That place sent literature for years, only stopped 'cause I move away for college.
