I'm absolutly pleased with my Squier classic vibe 60 strat, especially with the neck. It really fits my hand like a glove and is a joy to play. I barely use my American Series strat since I got the CV-60. I'm currious to know which 60's erra strat model the CV-60 supposed to be based on?

The Squier neck specs are : 4 bolts, tinted mapple , 21 medium jumbo frets , rosewood, 9.5 radius , 42 mm nut width. Fender do not give any infos about the neck shape but some stores advertise them as modern C shape.

Is there a current production Srat with the same neck as the squier classic vibe 60?

I think the CV's are a touch thinner than the American Strats. The CV neck won't fit on a MIA or MIM Strat though... They're about 1/4" thicker at the heel.

Generally the ones I've tried are radically thinner (and I can't play them comfortably).

The only current production Squier I know of with a full-sized neck for feeling is the Mascis Jazzmaster (with a wider than normal spec'd width at nut).

I would be happy to buy a real strat, a MIA or even A MIM Fender strat that has about the same neck as the CV60 but, seems that those Squier CV necks are kind of unique!

@myself
Seems that the 62 AVRI will be the one to get though the hot rod version with its 9.5" radius and medium-jumbo frets would be closer to the squier neck specs. Tough choice!

The '62 Hot Rod neck is the exact opposite of a CV 60 neck. It might be the fattest production Strat neck that Fender makes!

I just bought a Squier CV 60 specifically the signature version called a Simon Neil CV Strat. I bought it for the Fiesta Red body not the neck. I plan to replace the skinny neck with a MIM rosewood 60's Classic Player neck.

Thanks for the input the V. Most strat player prefer a chuncky neck but it took me years to discover I'm at the exact opposite! Those CV strat necks are perfect for my hands. I even wish they would be available with the 7.25" radius.

What about the regular 62 AVRI neck thickness ? Anyone could tell me what are the mesurements at nut, seventh and twelfth frets and at the heel?

StratQuebec, I don't know the measurements but the AVRI '62s are nice small C necks. I usually don't get along with small necks, but the shape on these is what makes them work comfortably.

Thanks BrentD. Well, I wish I could try 62 AVRI one but no store around has one in stock . I'm really comfortable with the CV 60 neck I wish I could find a Fender with a neck as comfortable. If the 62 AVRI is the one, than I'd pull the trigger right away!

I'm gonna make a call to 62 AVRI owners!

The 62AVRI is very close to the CV neck. What did you do about the thick poly on the CV neck? Did you sand it down? I can't stand the feel of it.

Yep the AVRI 62 is ordered! I've kept the CV neck as is because it doesn't really bother me, up to now at least. Not really more sticky than my AmSeries strat.

I've got another cv neck for a scallop project and this otoh one might get a sand job indeed.

Curious to see what you consider the AV62 vs the Squier at when you get to play it.

Oh I'm curious too Robert. According to all the questions I asked here, there and elsewhere, the 62 RI should be the closest to the squier cv 60, apart the radius.

According to the Fender CS, ( see link) early '60s strat [ I hope the '62 AVRI will fall in this categorie] the thickness from the 1st to the 12th fret is .790 to .930 and is labelled "oval C"

According to another source, 60's necks are .820 to .960.

I hope the 62 AVRI is more like the custom shop measurements which seems comparable to the squier.

I'll be happy to report back once I got the RI.

My 57 AVRI has quite a skinny neck..Maybe that's what you are after?

Thanks for your help smuph1 and yes it is. It appeanrs I preffer the feel of rosewood over mapple so for that, and other "sentimental" consideration I ordered a 62RI. I really feel comfortable with the Classic Vibe strat neck so if the 62 RI is comparable, I'll be happy!

Got the strat Rob. Nope the neck is nothing like the classic vibe. Chunkier it is. Way more. And this neck is so o o sticky. And the action is set way to high to my taste. The trem is floating very high also.

If anything, this is not the instrument I tought it would be, at least, out of the box. The intonation is perfect but the action too high and this neck, man, it's so sticky...

Played it 10 minutes and put it back in its case. Took back my Squier and, wow, it really plays and feel great in my hands.

That 62 AVRI will need a good setup, with .09 for me.

On the good side, finish is perfect, it's very light, the pups sound absolutly great. No doubts it's a high quality instrument.

But that sticky neck doesn't help at all...

Well, this is it for now.

Yea, sounds like it definitely needs a setup, and the sticky neck syndrome sometimes goes away with time. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the guitar is good enough you put up with it. ;0

Thankfully I don't have any nitro finished guitars to deal with that on any more. Poly is my friend.

Congrats on your new Strat.
Remember we are in the hot and humid days so that may have affected the setup but I'll bet a 1/8th turn tightening of the truss rod will put the action right where you want it.

My '57 AVRI was quite sticky as well when I first got it and now seems less sticky. I think the shine and newness of the Nitro finish must wear off after awhile. I've read of the light steel wool trick but I'd really hate to do anything to that nice neck.
