I think that it is shaping up to be one of those seasons... I have held off on the potatoes too... in my case, the garden is in cottage country 100 miles North of Montreal at 1200 feet elevation.
I am hoping to get onions sets and potatoes in this coming weekend; tomatoes etc. after June 1. I also managed to start some chestnut trees from their nuts. I want to get them in... but, I do not want to lose them to a sudden surprise.
I also plant a small field of sunflowers and do not want to rush those. Cold soil really gets to those seeds, they do not germinate then they rot quickly.
Soil temperature was still a few degrees below 50°F a few days ago... too cold.

We've been getting some snow but sunny too. I was back 5-6 miles behind the house today cutting trail to a new lick I want to hunt this fall, must be 50 yards across, can even see it on Google Earth. Moose and caribou have the place excavated and been using it for hundreds of years I do believe. Boy is home from UAF for summer and doesn't start work for a couple days; man it must be nice to be 21; he could out work me for sure. Seen a few bear too and started baiting my barrel. The creek even had enough ice still on it that I could ride 4 wheeler over it and no mosquitoes back there yet cause it's still so cool nx to the mnt.
We have 300 lb taters in the ground and another 100 lb then done. Carrots this weekend and I wait until June for everything in the hot bed.
Montrealer, I hauled a bunch of chestnut to Alaska when I came here, came from beams outta a neighbors barn built in 1812, revolutionary war grant farm, no joke. I built a few strats and a tele outta it, looks great, but doesn't sound much different. Have you ever thought about having a chestnut guitar made? I have the chestnut, had Ron KIrn build a couple a few years back. Local guitar builders can do it if ya don't want to yourself and if you're into chestnut, man a chestnut geetar, it'll get ya. Let me know if ya want some, hard to find perfect wood, without all being dry rotted.

Thanks for the offer. Much appreciated. For me, this is not the time for more guitars.
