I'm just wondering where does one purchase a Fender tweed Champ clone and how much is a fair price for them?
Thanks

You can buy one or build one as a kit. There's plenty of the originals out there as well but a clone might be cheaper. Occasionally I see tweed clones on the local CL.
I've thought about building kits for those who are not so inclined after I retire.
Weber for a low cost kit but there are others (Mojo? Marsh?)

I just took a look at the Torres website. For a tweed Champ clone kit they're asking over $800.
The thing is, you can find SF Champs for under $500, and convert them to tweed specs for less than $10 in parts. And if you want to sell, you can take it back to stock in minutes and sell it as a genuine Fender Champ, not a clone.
There are other factors, of course, but keep this in mind.

The main thing I like about many of the clones is they have a larger speaker - 10" or 12" - which I realize no longer makes it an accurate "clone" but it's a worthwhile "improvement" in my mind.

You can buy a VERY nice full chassis kit (all guts and chromed chassis...no tubes, speaker, or cabinet) from Triode for about $240. They use fairly authentic components, and these little kits ROCK.

I built a clone five years ago. It was fun and not that hard. However, you can buy a pro built clone for the same price as a kit so only give it a go if YOU want to build it yourself. I did lots of mods. The 12" speaker is deffinetly a +. My amp sounds fantastic and been my main amp since I built it.

Peegoo, did you build that cab? I am thinking I might like a 5E3 in a 2x12" cab like a tweed Twin.

I bought a fully assembled tweed champ clone chassis, including tubes (which have since been changed - use a KT-66 now) on eBay back in 2006 for $285.00. A little steep, maybe, but fully assembled using top shelf components.
I put it in a slightly bigger cab with a 10" speaker (first a Weber Alnico sig 10, but now a Celestion G10 Vintage), and it's a fun little amp. Amp can be seen in profile pics in "The Stable..." picture, sitting on top of my SFDR.
Most of the time I run it through a 212 cab, but it's a quick gran and go amp by itself.
The builder was a guy named Nardis, and it looks like he's tried to sell his stuff under Nardis Custom Amplification. He still has a picture of the chassis I bought on his web page. The link below is the pictures from the eBay auction, and one of the pics is the one still on his web site.

A few years back, I bought my kit from Little Dawg Amps. I think he only builds them now from what I see.

Thanks! Yeah, I did the cabinet out of 3/4" pine boards and a 3/8" ply baffle. The speakers are reconed alnico Quams from the 60s. I got them on fleaBay for about $10 apiece; they have some serious thump for such small speakers. The amp is really lightweight and sounds fantastic with single coil pickups. Humbuckers drive it into warm tweediness.

That's really, really nice, Peegoo. Did you do your own lacquer job, too? By brother just bought an unlacquered Blues Deville 410 RI: what do you suggest? Yours looks amazing!

I have a ValveTrain 205. The web site describes it as more of a Princeton clone. Regardless, it is a damn fine amp. And quite loud, too. I believe I paid about $800 for it 3 or 4 years ago.
