Until yesterday all my Strats had maple necks and fingerboards. But I fell in love with a rosewood fingerboard Strat I saw in a guitar shop. Please tell me why I need this guitar?

Because the Jimmie Vaughan signature model has a maple neck and it's one of the most comfortable Strat necks Fender has EVER made.
Go play one and tell me I'm wrong. (;^P)

Because you can "play faster" runs with maple,
why? not sure, just a fact.
Try it, it's true.

"I'm thinking a black, '56 CS with the Big ol' V boat neck. Always wanted a Strat like that. Maybe gold hardware. Hrrrmmm."
Now you're talkin'! I've got one of those (although white blonde instead of black) and I love it. A nice comfy soft V shape is an integral part of the quintessential maple neck Strat, IMO.

I way prefer rosewood (SRV, Jeff Beck) for its generally throatier tone, but Robert Cray plays rosewood and he gets a very bright tone, so the tone difference is overcome-able by your amp brand and settings.
It's easier to achieve that Nile Rodgers and Mark Knopfler uber-bright strat tone on a maple board.
I have both. My r/w's are my faves, but if I get a call for a T-40/dance/wedding job I often bring my FDP strat w/maple board.
Don't get one just to have it, play it first, and if you hear the difference, by all means get it. If you order a relic, get the fingerboard mostly worn for a better feel. Like 5Strats, I prefer the unfinished r/w feel, although the modern satin finish isn't bad.

One person's guitar face when playing a rosewood neck strat is another's squinting to see the markers.

I find the opposite!
Mine is maple, and I agree that it is a bit "snappier". I do prefer the feel of rosewood, though.

Glueing two pieces of wood together makes the neck stiffer. Nice to have a 1-piece maple neck that responds to light touch, changing the note pitch up or down with minimal effort.

Mine is a maple neck Strat, and I'll vouch for its gloriousness. It's my favorite electric guitar neck of all the gear I own. But I've had only test drive at music store experiences with rosewood-equipped Strats and Teles. My one true "the one that got away" was a rosewood 1967 Telecaster.
I suspect you need one because you'll appreciate the subtle contrast in neck activity....the maples do feel more splanky and responsive, but I feel I have more control on the rosewoods.

I have played rosewood neck guitars all my life until I got a maple neck strat 6 years ago (impulse buy-good deal at a Memorial Day sale) and it has become my go to guitar when I play out. The brightness of the tone really punches through the mix much better than my rosewood strats in a live situation. I thought the "brighter" argument was hogwash but it is true in my experience when playing out. For recording however, I prefer the warmer tone of the rosewood neck.........Finally, that nice aged maple neck looks killer in photgraphs.
