"Captain Geech and the Shrimpshack Shooters." Not exactly 'surf'. :) But I DO love "Voyage Around the Moon".

I've just been listening to some surf as I finished up work this morning.
The Bambi Molesters (my current favorite band), The Fathoms, Pollo Del Mar, and Slacktone's "Into The Blue Sparkle" is cranking right now.

If you've heard of Steve Soest of Soest Guitar you should check out his surf band "The Torqueys". Great stuff. Even if you haven't heard of Steve, check it out.
My friend Bob Spickard of the Chantays would be happy if you ordered up some of their recordings as well.
My all time current favorite is the "Duo Tones". This is a project by Paul Johnson (Surfaries) and Gil Orr (Chantays) It is all acoustic surf music. These guys can pick! Living here in SoCal I go see them often. They sometimes play live electrically as The Duo Tones Plus Two.

A surf band I've recently been turned on to is the Japanese group Daikaiju. Really good.
EDITED to add: Just listened to a tune by them called "Flight Of Garuda". Awesome surfy goodness.
For something a little more way out, but still surf-oriented, try Man Or Astroman? One of my all-time favorite bands.

I don't know how good I can claim to be but I like playing the genre. It's just plain fun stuff. Even in the blues band I have Pipeline and Apache in the set list.
Your tune is very good! It is very pleasant to listen to unlike a lot of new surf music. You do true justice to the genre. Very melodic! I like the cruzin' tempo as well.
I would change the arrangement just slightly adding a break when the melody resolves then bring it back in with the pick up notes. Just my opinion but some silence is golden in surf tunes.
I might play around with the chorus melody an octive down with some light palm mute and deep tremelo as well.
Again, I am in no way thowing darts at your song. Just offering what I would do with it if I was recording it. Great job BrentD!

Here's Laika and The Cosmonauts. Sadly, they're no longer together...they had a fantastic run, but decided to retire from playing as a group. They're all still good friends.
From Finland. Amazing band.

Couple of years ago we got to meet Los Straightjackets during MusikFest in Bethlehem. Even loaned the bass player a tuner after he broke a string. (I never break bass strings)
On the same stage/bill as them was a group called The Coffin Daggers, who featured a chick keyboard player.
In the Reggae Surfers we play some Dick Dale, DD inspired stuff, as well as some Diamond Heads, and some originals.
