My main guitar is a CS 60's relic strat that I love. My only complain about this guitar go to the pickups...they sounded really good for clean tones, very crisp and transparent but with a resistance of 5.6k each, I was unable to nail that elusive "Texas tone" I was looking for so long...So I wanted to change the stock pickups for something hotter for many years now but you don't want to mess with a CS strat, don't you ?
I Knew Texas Specials would deliver the tone I wanted and I finally had the chance to buy a fully loaded pickguard from http://www.stratcat.biz/
I highly recommend them, btw.
Installed it yetesterday and it feels like I have a new guitar !
It sounds so much better in my SS60, these pups love overdrive not like the stock ones...
It's a commonplace to say that changing pickups can transfigure the tone of a guitar but it's true so I just wanted to share !

Does the CS60 have CS60 Relic pups in it?

Just curious as they are so articulate.

As a "one off" Strat, it has unique features and one of them was the set of John Cruz 60's pups wich are his versions of the 60's time machine pickups. They were usually only available on John Cruz master built Strats...

80% of tone comes from the pickup.

I have CS60 Relic pups in a 96 Am Std. I thought they werevery good until I bought the Rumple Abby Masterwound copies that Aaron makes. They are a bit sweeter.
