I've always disliked the bridge saddles on my Jazzmaster. I can have a heavy strumming hand and tend to knock the E string off the saddle.

I'm a bit suprised when doing a "search" for this product here that it doesnt get much mention at all.

Anyone tried it out, thoughts experiences? I have one but haven't installed it yet, just wanting to know what to expect.

caveat: I have deliberatly not installed a Mastery on either of my Jags or Bass VI. The reason is that essentially you only get two arms to adjust intonation by fudging angles. It's even less flexible than the Tele bridges of two strings per saddle.

"I can have a heavy strumming hand and tend to knock the E string off the saddle."

something I experienced with my '62 Bass VI. It came down to break angle (the angle from the playable section of the strings compared to the angle between saddles to tremolo) not being sufficient.

That, and a bit of corrosion in the bridge saddle so it wasn't a solid fit.

some other options: take a small file to the saddle to tidy it up

I'm assuming it's a spiral-threaded/grooved saddle. Replace with a Mustang bridge with a solid groove.

just my 2c worth.

I have Tuneomatic Gibson-style bridges on my Jazzmaster, Jaguar, and Mustang.

They all came that way. I've owned ones in the past with factory ones, and the TOM is an improvement in almost every way I can think of.

The MB does seem to have compensation built into the saddles. Your other points are well taken, thanks for the reply.

I put a Mastery on my Thinskin Jazzy.

Love it!!

It it true that you don't have isolated string adjustments, but I had no issues getting the intonation set.
I have heard that folks who use a wound 3rd string have had problems with intonation with the Mastery, but I can't confirm that since I use a plain 3rd.

I do think the Mastery improved the string-to-body transfer and I like the clarity and definition I hear with it. A little better sustain, as well.

The only gripe I have/had with the Mastery is that it's so expensive. But it IS a beautifully machined piece of hardware - and I've paid more for some pedals, so I got over it.

Everything I'm running with a JM/Jag trem now is the newer break angle/trem placement so I can run the guitar synth pickup and bulb controller easily. It doesn't fit easily without the trem relocation on the CP/50th/Mascis models, and I'm thankful for it beyond the sustain and intonation fixes.
