I love them both equally. Strats, Teles, RW, maple. Ya gotta diversify.

The data would support your conclusion:
Strat forum posts = 334,732
Tele forum posts = 127,961
It looks like Strats are about 2 and a half times better.

They're just different. And so are other makes.
Some times a strat is good to the ear. Others a tele, or a 70's thinline. Can't bit this last sound, how ever many strats you try. But then again you can't solo with a tele like a strat. Strat 's got its own sound. Different from teles. As far as neck is concerned there is also ebony. Also I remember hearing about a light colored neck, pretty much close to maple that doesn't need any varnish or nitro or shellac or what have you; neck stays naked, just the wood, and it gets no stains, no dirt, just like as if it had a nitro coating over it, only it doesn't. I am sure there are differences between similar kinds of neck woods.

I certainly like the way a Strat sounds compared to a Tele, and I like the trem bar. Both are great guitars, but I have become sort of glued to some Strats.

I own 7 Strats and 1 Tele. I guess there must be some reason for this disparity. (:oD

I mean, cmon, everything about the Tele is some kinda rough draft before the masterpiece Strat. :)
That skinny lil Tele headstock? Just a beautiful Strat headstock in the making.
That lipstick neck pup? Just a precursor to the true tone genius of the Strat neck pup.
The Tele body? Just a blank basically, of the beautiful curves that would become the Strat body.
I can go on and on. ;)

you can beat the tele bridge pickup...and you can't beat the strat neck pickup....body and head stockwise the org. strat is far superior i.m.o....also the trem is very handy....i just removed my 4th spring and floated it...don't know why i didn't do it before, not only can i now pull upwards a full step...but if i divebomb a quick yank upwards brings the G string back into pitch!

Never played a Tele who didn't make my forearm cramp up like bloody murder, so yes. Strats are better, I can at least play them!

I agree that they are just different deals entirely. Like both, lots. But my ears hear mostly Strat sounds and I find most of my tones on a Strat. And for some bizarre reason, I like maple on Teles and rosewood on Strats. Have no idea why. It just works for me that way.

Ah, no, they are equally good. Sorry I don't agree that strats are "better". Both great tools for different jobs. Guess that's why I have an equal number of each (probably too many in either case).

Strats are more aggressive, both in design( the way the wood is cut out forming an outline) and in sound. Teles are sweeter. In my opinion they produce different sound and this urges the player to go along inventing melodies of different character, as well as speed, and frequency. Wish I could play a Tele like those banjo players, even though this kind of playing shouldn't necessarily be related to the Tele-Mark Knopfler sort of approaches it in some of his solos as he plays using his fingers and not just a plectrum.
Also I like the myth that is being busted, the one that says Gibsons have more sustain because of the glued-set in neck. Fenders have sustain too.
Having studied there, the US is the paradise of guitars. Should I worked there I'd spend all my money buying used guitars. I envy you people. Got a 1989 mij 59 ri Fender Strat I am talking about in a thread right now, and a mik tele that isn't really a Fender but has an OK sound-nice piece of wood. Used to own a 70's miusa Strat but sold it for peanuts to switch to the Tele sound. Truth is I didn't like that Strat, a late 70's that was. I prefer the older ones.
Just like my Leica, it is a IIIa, and I prefer it to the M ones. I think it's a thing about all the first or earliest models of things having been produced, they last longer and the more time goes by the harder it is to get hold of them, even in your paradise guitar land of yours!

I would actually say it's just the opposite.
And it's why I've always preferred Tele's.
Love 'em both, just lean more toward the Telecaster.
OK, I'll go back to the Tele forum, now.
Carry on!
