How do they compare, soundwise, to D'Addarios?

Love them on my RG. Came home from work and put a set on my strat which had DR pure blues on it for awhile and tuned to Eflat.
I had slinkys on the RG 9-46, Cobalts 10-46.
This truly is an amazing string. The slinkiest. The 10's bend like 9's. The sustain on my strat is awesome now, far better than before.
Big low end tone, very sweet mids, a nice snap on the highs. Really very nice and definitely worth a try. Acoustically, they sound great as well. I really like these strings. Not as bright as slinkys, more brilliance than DR blues.

I have a set on my Epi Dot.
I agree with mojohen that they are pretty good strings.
They seem to have a smoother more balanced sound than EB Slinkys, D'Addarios, GHS Boomers or SITs with good lows, mids and highs without spikiness.
The wound strings have a bit less tension but are far from floppy. And they have higher harmonic content giving them great response to pick attack and right hand techniques.
I did a sustain test comparing a Slinky low E and a Cobalt A string. The Cobalt sustained noticeably longer.
Only down side is the windings feel a little rougher than nickel or plated steel wrapped strings.

Matter of taste I assume. I tried a set on my Strat and did not like them, went back to DR Pure Blues. Been using them for years on all my git's
Zrussel, looks like you posted an add here! Might want to move that to For Sale before you're suspended.

It is a matter of taste. Strings really are a personal voyage. In the beginning it was pure nickel wrap, and then nickel-plated steel and stainless steel. Now we've got cobalt to choose from too.

Matter of taste, agreed.
They sound like tin strings to me, terrible. I think the blue grey color is sort of industrial looking as well. Maybe they sound better with certain pups or on semi-hollows.
If you are going to try them, I suggest not investing in more than one pack as a testor.

Yup, that's good advice when testing any strings.
We guitar players are lucky that strings are so cheap. It doesn't cost us much to try a few different options (and there area lot of options out there).

I can +1 on the "matter of taste" point. I put a set on my Strat and they were thoroughly nasty - dirty with lots of residue, gritty feeling and harsh on the fingers, ugly tone. I gave them a week and even cleaned them with FastFret, but even at the end of the week they were leaving deposits on my fingers and scraping the skin off my pads. I figured enough was enough.

Had the corrosion/crusty effect after about 30 minutes outside on a humid day. Thought it might be the baby power I use but never happened with any other strings. Couldn't clean it off either.
