I am in the market for a Clapton Goldleaf Masterbuilt strat at the moment.
Have the opportunity to either go for a Yuri Shishkov or a Todd Krause. The Shishkov is secondhand and is about $2000 cheaper than the Krause, which is brand new.
Just wondering if anyone has opinions on differences in how these two builders build these guitars. I'm sure they're both exceptional instruments but just curious about what the key differences would be in terms of the feel of the guitars??
I will have to buy the guitar unseen so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey Bro,
I haven't been here in a good while, but when I saw your thread thought Id give you my 2 cents.
I'm fortunate enough to own a variety of Masterbuilts, Cruz, Shishkov, Krause, Fezzler, and Galuska.
Trust me, you couldn't go wrong with build from any one of these guys. You could throw a dart and the quality, tone, resonance, set up, fit and finish would exceed your wildest expectation.
All of these guys are simply the best in the world at what they do.
If you're with me on that so far, then it becomes more an issue of value.
My understanding is the
specs on the Clapton masterbuilts are consistent from guitar to guitar, builder to builder.
Ie., you don't built a Clapton and do your own thing.
Buyers are supposed to be getting the same guitar Eric plays.
Krause is Clapton's builder, which might add its own cool desirability factor. But I haven't seen that reflected as a premium in the selling price, yet.
Like Krause, Yuri is also a senior Masterbuilder. I can tell you
his guitars melt in your hand. He's got the major magical mojo factor. His guitars defy description, off the charts.
So then all things being equal, why ever pay 2000.00 more?
It doesn't make "cents"
Unless, here's my disclaimer:
How does the seller describe the Yuri, is it in new, unplayed condition,
or has it seen a lot of action? Did he alter anything, change the set up?
Hope that helps, just ask yourself if all things are equal, why pay 2 grand more.
Have you seen pictures?
Hope that helps. Ill check back.

This isn't going to answer your question, but I have a Kendrick Clapton Gold Leaf with Lace pups. It's a great guitar. You can't go wrong, they're both going to be wonderful guitars.
