Never had a guitar with these but am curious...Are these associate with lots of sting pull. It seems like their construction means a bar magnet is right under the strings.
your thoughts?

In my experience pickups with closed covers like the Tele neck and Firebird mini humbuckers have less string pull...never played lipsticks though!

The ones I have in my lipstick strat (pic in profile) have a little less pull than standard alnico-pole Strat pickups. If you're after the authentic Dano tone, keep the pickups pretty cool--around 4.5k to 5.5k. Err on the lower end and you'll get closer.

I set up a strat S/S/H with pickups from Guitarfetish. Rewired the back tone knob so it rolls between HB to SC. Sounds awesome, they're lower output like Geno mentioned. 4.9 @ neck, 6 @ middle, and 12 @ bridge in HB mode; 6 I guess in SC.

Toneful mothers! AlNico II magnets too. Think it was right around 100 schmackers for all 3, easy install.

I have a set of GFS lipsticks installed in a parts Strat. The pickups are up pretty high, they just clear the strings. No string pull and they sound great.
