I don't know why when fender reissued these guitars in Japan the changed the color from it's original "Paisley Red" to "Pink Paisley"? Maybe it was because most of the original copies had become so faded they look more like pink than red. Below is a photo of the original Fender ad for the 1968 Paisley Red Telecaster and Bass

Looks great.
I have a parts Tele with a MIJ Fender blue flower body. I'd love to find a paisley to go with it, Fender or Tokai, I'm not picky.
Congrats!

I was remarking to someone the other day how much the Internet has widened the marketplace, and my search for an 80's paisley Strat was the example I used. Back in the mid-90's I wanted one of these, which had of course been discontinued for several years at that point. I searched high and low for two or three years...left my name at countless stores and pawn shops...made dozens of phone calls. When I finally did find one (at a local shop I was in every week - that didn't even call me - I got lucky!) I was elated.
Nowadays that same search would take me what, however long it took me to boot up my computer and google it.
It's really an amazing thing when you think about it...but you know, I think it takes some of the joy and satisfaction of the thrill of the chase and finally finding that elusive item...
Anyway - killer guitar!

The arty version of little John John saluting his dead father is a bit much.
Nice guitar though.

So why is the headstock logo totally missing in your first photo - I can see it in the last photo (of the guitar in the case)? Odd...

Thanks for the posts! Yes,when I bought the guitar there was no decal on the headstock. The original Tokai decals are applied over the clearcoat so maybe someone peeled it off. I looked for a replacement but all I could find were decals with the Tokai "Spagetti" script logo which had been discontinued before they made the Paisleys.
I wrote to Tokai and asked if they could send me the correct decal.I sent them photos of my guitar and they mailed me the correct decal for the headstock. My friend, luthier Ted Vig,put it on for me. I only had the one decal and I didn't want to mess it up,lol.

That's standard man-cave artwork guys... Didn't you know? My workshop has many similar pictures, as does the local karate dojo.
