At Martis Camp on the north end of Lake Tahoe, CA.
In a word, they were fantastic! John Jorgenson's guitar playing was simply spectacular and Chris Hillman (who played a Takamine acoustic the whole show) was spot on too. Can't remember the pedal steel player's name, but he was a perfect fit for the band.
My fav tune was definitely "TURN! TURN! TURN!" and, judging by the applause level, it was the audience's fav too.
John played McGuinn's guitar lines PERFECTLY on a DanElectro 6/12 into a Line 6 effects box and then straight into a mic'd VOX AC30 amp. His other axes of choice were a reissue Gretsch 6120DSW and a newish looking Tele.
If you've been sleeping for a lot of years and aren't up to speed on John Jorgenson, check out the Wiki bio:

I still need to get some of Jorgenson's gypsy jazz CDs.
I'm a big Hellecasters fan.

Jorgenson is a guitar stud. In between the Hellecasters and the Gypsy Jazz he was in Elton John's band for several years. A great musician.

Very cool. There's a nice interview with Chris H. in the current "Fretboard Journal" (#25).

I saw the JJ trio in a coffee shop for free in Bowling Green, Ohio two weeks ago, from the second row. It was all gypsy jazz. The best show I've seen in quite awhile.

I always liked the Desert Rose Band. I like the kind of music they play.

Would love to see Desert Rose Band. Saw the John Jorgensen Quintet doing gypsy jazz, much of it taken from his new CD. It was simply stunning.
