My friend Bill got to town about 2:00 and we headed out to the range.
Quite an informative evening of shooting, most of it I had been exposed to before but not in any great detail or spending extended time on the range practicing the Harries Technique.
It's surprising how much easier it is to pick up the front sight using this method. While things last night were not under real time pressure ... I think I was able to group shots just as closely with the flashlight as I can in the daytime using both hands on the gun.
Here is a PIC of my run at the ragged hole drill. While this may not seem real good/tight to some of you real sharp shooters, it's maybe the best one I remember shooting. It's five shots from five yards shot after dark using the Harries Technique.
edited to add: the taped over shot is from earlier on when the breeze blew the target off the panel and it flopped in the breeze ... not related to the ragged hole drill.

Jimmy, Yes ... at 10:00 it was absolutely beautiful. We were shooting until 12:30.
Just a little breeze, not enough to be bothersome other than to two or three targets.

I never did like +P loads at night.
Or any of the popular defense loads.
I can't get them anymore but there is one load that has almost no flash. Still have enough to last me my lifetime.
At night my biggest problem was losing my nightvision after a shot.

We are actually taught to utilize the muzzle flash to help find sight alignment for the second shot of a controlled pair.
No problem with losing vision that I experienced.
