I played a couple but wasn't impressed. Doesn't mean they are bad. I'm so used to my 30+ year old classical which I like the sound on and compare all others to it. The only classical I played that sounded better was a Ramirez. At 2K it didn't look like it was worth 2K but the sound and playability was worth every penny.

I suggest you get your hand on every classical you can find and try them. Anything acoustic to me is hit or miss. I played some high end Martins and Taylors that were dawgs.

I have a cheap Lucerno acoustic-electric nylon string guitar and it's really fun to play. I've thought of upgrading, but there really is no reason too.

ps - I rarely play this guitar plugged in.

So is that one actually available lefty? Your link is for a righty...

It has a slightly thinner body than a standard classical, PLUS a cutaway. I'm guessing both are going to cause the tone to suffer a bit. Also has electronics, which sometimes means the guitar is built to sound it's best plugged in rather than purely acoustic.

But it has a solid Englemann spruce top, which 'should' be a plus.

I agree that acoustics are really hit and miss. And nylon strings evey more so; their sound spectrum can be all over the place and not necessarily balanced unless they are braced properly and not overbuilt.

Get a new Guild GC-2. I think it will have the best feeling fingerboard - ebony, with cedar top makes it sound beautiful right out of the box.

When I was looking, Yamaha are just ok sounding cheap and feeling, Cordoba quality - not, they seem not worth it, all over the place.Godin guitar dimensions seem off, non traditional shape, nice wood. Takamine are overpriced, they use to be much cheaper.

Guild seems to nail it with traditional body, professional feeling fret bd, Good looking and Guild actually has a history of making understated nice Classical guitars like their old Mrk Series.

That seems irrelevant when these Guilds are made in China in the far east, not in the old Guild factory "back east."
