A Dallas man was able to recover his Austin Healy 3000 which was stolen in 1970. He had found it for sale on eBay by a Beverly Hills dealer.

Your link has nothing to do with a car that I see.

Edit: guess you saw it while I was posting.

The story would have been complete had the writer got a statement from the California car dealer.

But still a good read. Glad he got it back.

I'm wondering if the dealer was too embarrassed to comment. I know that they've been in business for ages.

Great story, great car.

I think there's a guy here on the FDP that has one of those Austin-Healys.

"After four weeks of haggling with the dealer, which initially offered to sell the car back to him for about $24,000.."

What chutzpah! Leave it to a car dealer. They knew they had a sketchy vehicle and history and still were trying to get him to pay more than had been bid at auction. Must have been very sweet when the cops went to impound the car.

Sweet! Wonder what will happen to the individual that claimed it had been in his family since 1970?

The best thing is that he got it back. Next would be having the dealer's behavior plastered all over the car business and collector community.

sounds like a very happy story! Interesting that when it was stolen he didn't have insurance. If he had, and then got paid on an insurance claim for the stolen vehicle in 1970, would he still be entitled to get it back, or would the insurance company own it?
