Mustang III.
I originally bought it because it was 100 watts, had a 12 inch speaker and was affordable. I didn't really expect much. I planned to use it as a stage monitor for 4 and 5 string banjo on a 2 month job at a holiday park.
It is extremely versatile. It sounds great. It has plenty of power for live work. It is relatively lightweight. It is now my primary practice amp. I also use it for acoustic and electric guitar. The models, patches and effects mean I only need the one amp to cover any of the instruments I may be called on to play. I couldn't be more pleased.

Aaarggggh, you guys are killing me. Just missed out on a M3 on eBay last night. I wouldn't care but it went for less than I was going to bid, unfortunately I was distracted by playing my guitar and missed the end of the auction. You snooze you lose. I'm still going to get one soon though.

i got my M1 over a year ago when they came out. i was impressed from the start. i had a G-Dec and sold it. the Mustang amps just sounded better to me.
it's a really great practice amp. but it sounds like with the bigger Mustangs it can be much more than a practice amp. i love tweaking with Fuse.. makes it very flexible. but the best part is how easy it is to connect to my laptop and record ideas with CakeWalk/Sonar.
Fender really got it right~

Had a blast playing my Mustang IV tonight, now that I'm getting use to the amp and since adding the 2 button ft switch it just makes patch changes and fx switching a breeze. I use the amp with my band tonight and we always try and play some what quiet but still loud enough to enjoy it and the Mustang still sounds great like this, you get all the dynamics and sensitivity you need at a reasonable volume so over all I still don't miss playing tube amps!

Hey Guys ! Newbie here to the forum.I've been following it for a while though. I just picked
up a Mustang II yesterday from a pawn shop for
$75.00 ( no footswitch or fuse software ).I played around with it some last night and feel
it's a great home practice amp. I tried the Mustang I but I think I like the 12" speaker
in the II better. Just a fuller sound.

I like the sounds I get from my MIII. It has replaced my old Super Champ for rehearsals and casual jams because it has much better clean tones and I'm super happy with the 59 bassman patch for crunch tone. It even has enough power to be pressed into service as a stage amp. The reasons I'm not using it as a primary stage amp are the lack of a readout on my 2 button switch telling me what sound is active and the top panel that I can't see because I have the amp tipped back. Maybe the 4 button switch would solve this problem, not sure. It would have to have a large, easy to see readout and buttons far enough apart that I could move up and down between patches easily. I don't like the idea of having 2 more buttons. A big, bright readout on the 2 button switch would be best for me since I'm not used to dealing with pedals.

Get the four button switch and the EXP-1 pedal and you'll have all sorts of options and tonal pallets to work with.

I bet they would if the Mustang line was really hurting their tube amp sales figures. ;^D

I think in a few years, Fender will be marketing software that integrates vocal processing with guitar processing, a few interface tools and tube amps. I see a divide ahead of digital musicians and traditional musicians. I'll guess that Fender plans on having cool stuff to sell to both groups.

I wanted to see how well the tone is for direct recording and so far I'm quite happy with it I think it sounds very good, I used the headphone out jack and went into line in on my Creative Audigy 2 Zs that feeds my computer.
I love using the amp live it sounds great at any volume and it seems to pass the test for me for home recording use
The model I used is:
Brit 80's (JCM800) with the 4x12G Cab The G I am assuming is for Greenbacks
I also have on the OD model driving the front end for a bit more gain (Old school setup) plus a little modeled Tape Echo
I used my Les Paul Classic with Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAFs
Here is just a small Rhythm and Lead sample!

Right now, the MIII is a rehearsal amp where I can change sounds with the knob. The lack of a display on the 2 button switch kills it for me as a stage amp. I did try it once at a show. Just 00 set for clean and 01 set for a little dirt, but still, I found it to be distracting compared to my regular rig where I have an overdrive pedal with only a single button to manage and a light to show when the overdrive effect is active. As much as I like the MIII, I don't think I'll ever be motivated enough to spend another 70 bucks for the 4 button pedal that has a whole lot of features I don't want and 2 more buttons to avoid stepping on. The lack of a display on the standard 2 button switch is the main drawback to this amp for me.

I think for live playing the 4 button is a must, I use both ft switches (2 & 4 Button)and it works out great when playing with my cover band!
The Mustang IV is my main rig for everything!

I deleted this comment from my post above because I was thinking the same thought but decided to remove the comment.
I still doubt they are discontinuing the Mustang though. It certainly would be a disappointment.
