The only thing I've noticed over the past 5-10 years is the increasing number of variants of the LP and Strat (and Tele). Some don't like all the different models, but I really like having all the choices. I'm not knocking anyone that likes to tinker with their gear, but I really don't find it necessary these days. Having all the choices makes life much easier for those of us that just want to plug and play without having to swap pups, tuners, etc...

Lesterstrat, I agree. Choice is good.
But it still bugs me when so many models are available in only one or two colors. Usually black and or sunburst. And I'm very fussy about colors. On the other hand, it's probably saved me thousands of dollars over the past dozen years!
