I have asthma, and my doctor always checks for thrush because I use an inhaler.
Sorry, I don't really understand what it is.
Hope you get some relief.

It's fungus. Usually they put you on something systemic. You need the doc for that. They thought I might have had it when I was on chemo a couple years ago and put me on one of those systemic antifungals, but turned out not to be the case.
Don't know of any home remedies, although I'd probably be gargling with hydrogen peroxide on the theory that it can't do any harm and might help.
Actually, I'd be looking for an urgent care in the area. You don't want something like this to get a foothold if you can avoid it.

"I have asthma, and my doctor always checks for thrush because I use an inhaler."
The tie-in there is probably steroids in the inhaler, which suppress the immune system. Thrush and such-like crap can take advantage when your defenses are down for whatever reason.

Actually it's a yeast (candida) infection. Get thee to a doctor. It can spread to the throat and esophagus.

They made muscle car mufflers also...
trying the hydrogen peroxide and calling around trying to get an appointment... this stuff came on fast.

Get to a doctor, not a dentist.
Normally you see it in young kids and babies.
You need prescription meds.

I got thrush as a result of being on antibiotics. The doc prescribed drops for the tongue that you swish 'n' swallow. It worked...took about four days to knock it down. See a doc post haste.

Peegoo and shoebox are right. Forget the dentist appointment. You're going to be in pain swallowing. Get to a doc, urgent care center. Whatever. You will not be able to get through the weekend without that swooshy stuff and maybe some other meds.
Edited for typo

Thrush is the ONLY thing MDs know in the oral cavity, so I would honestly recommend going to your dentist as well just in case its not thrush (there are many other things resembling thrush; many types of thrush, etc).
DMD/MD can Rx you a nystatin mouthrinse

Nystatin is nasty tasting but it is the only thing that will kick an invasion of thrush. Definitely time to go to an urgent care center. In the meantime, for temporary relief, swish Maalox.

Nystatin! That's the stuff. Kinda sorta burns the tongue a little. But it *works*.

sjerome has it about right. Swish and Swallow is a nickname that everyone in the med biz recognizes. You also probably need some Fluconazole as well. An Urgent Care facility should be able to help, as thrush if fairly common and not very dangerous. I've had it a few times.

I'm on a daily steroid asthma inhaler. After using it each morning I have to do a thorough rinse to remove all traces of the dry inhalant from inside the mouth and throat.... or suffer the fate of SS2.
