Hero, hero

you have done so well...

I've been sicker than my usual (nothing serious by my standards, i.e. no hospitals involved) the last week or so, and after the move and stress and living alone for the first time in 14 years sank in, I was in a bit of a funk.

And yesterday it was like the universe knew it. They do an annual renters' appreciation day here, and a picnic in the courtyard downstairs. Now this is a 60 unit building, and I've been here a couple weeks, and the management has never actually seen me so I'm basically nobody. They're good people though, treated me like a person rather than a cripple or somebody who needed anything, which I'm grateful for.

The manager shows up at my door with a plate of food, doesn't bat an eye that I'm death warmed over because I've been asleep a few hours, and is genuinely glad to see me.

Then I get a package from a fan of my music with a nice letter and a guitar pedal in it, free of any charge.

I still feel like a truck hit me, but it's good to know that sometimes you get what you need.

Seriously, that's awesome and all, but can you describe the plate of food with a little more detail? Slaw or potato salad?

Grilled hot dog, baked beans, potato salad, I forget what else. I ate what I could and passed out again.

Just basic picnic stuff, nothing fancy.

Fancy doesn't fly well in this house.

The goodwill of people amazes me, wish there was a lot more of it in this World. Glad you found some good people at your complex.

That's very nice. You deserve it.

And here I was going to post that drinking hot coffee out of a vintage old fashioned diner mug was so wonderful...

Yea, got my first quantity of decent sleep since Sunday which helps a lot. Still tired as hell but only so much I can get at once.

There's always Ambien...

5mg (half a tab) can give me just the edge I need for a good night's sleep. Not for regular use but a godsend for occasional use.

Just dealing with the stuff around here would certainly qualify for major compensation. I'm glad at least a little brightness came your way, Rev.

Wise of you to take the good where you can find it. And you're right about the little stuff.

Yea, I haven't touched the sleeping pills at this point, I'm trying to keep down to the three things I take already for as long as humanly possible.

But at least it's not a terrible day today either. Sometimes that itself is a good thing.
