I have a Vox DA5 and really like it, so much so that I'm considering getting a second one. (It's great for late night playing that doesn't bother the neighbors. ) Anyone have any experience with the Vox DA15? They seem to go for roughly the same price, and if if it sounds as good the extra power might be nice to have. Thanks

I had a DA15 for about a year.
It was the amp that got me interested in modeling amps. I took out the stock 8" speaker and cut the baffle for a 10". The incerase in volume made it possible to use the DA 15 as a rehearsal amp. The models were pretty good--good enough that I bought a Vox ToneLab ST modeler a few months afterward. I never quite figured out how to create my own patches on the DA15, however. The DA 15 led me to sell off my smaller tube amps. Why mess with a one trick pony when you can get a pony that does multiple tricks.
My inability to create the patches I wanted led me to trading the DA15 for a used Peavey Vypyr 15 which also got the upgrade to a 10" speaker. I ultimately got several other Vypyrs.

I still use a bone stock DA-15 as my livingroom, lanai amp after 5 yrs. of use, it's solid. My DA-5 crapped out after 3 yrs. due to the faulty power conditioning transistor that they seem to have a problem with. It's a 15 buck radio shack fix, but it's in storage and I'm fine with the DA-15. I've jammed it out several times with competing amps, Line 6, Mustang I, etc. It held it's own fine, I even miked it up one time at an invite where I foolishly left my HRDLX at home, against a twin no less. It would have been steamrolled if not for the mic'ing. But as an everyday practice noodle amp, it's fine and it seems to have realiability too.

A couple of years later and the DA-15 is marching on. I just ordered the new AV-15 with one El34 and a SS modeling. I've never really liked the cosmetics of the Da-15 with the industrial metal look, and the AV doesn't have classic VOX livery, looking more like a Carr amp, but the DA-15 is still a workhorse for me.
