Owned a '64 Mustang as a first guitar. It was stolen 2 years later. Next guitar I bought 4 years later was a '66 Fender Jaguar which I still own. In '92 found a '66 Fender Mustang in a pawn shop for $69.99; so I replaced my stolen. But as Strats go; my '95 Aluminum Strat, my '79 Olympic white hardtail (bought in another pawn shop for $119.99 + tax in 2002), my '95 burst, & my '11 Clapton "Blackie" are in the top 10.

I have several strats including a '12 American Standard. I dig all of my strats.

I just bought a brand new black MIM '15 Standard sss strat and put a new black white black pickguard on it and a set of brushed nickel locking tuners, along with an American string tree and black pickup covers.

The strat now has a blacked out look. I put on a set of chrome knurled dome barrel knobs on it and the chrome sets it off: black and chrome. I has a classic look with the chrome screw heads and trem and knobs. It has a beautiful maple neck, but the black body and black pickguard combine with the chrome hardware to make the guitar look spectacular but yet relaxed.

The single thing that surprised me most about this strat is that I really dig he stock pickups. All of my other strats have different or upgraded pickup sets, such as; the American Standard pickup set, two with Custom Shop Texas Special sets, and one with Custom Shop Fat '50s.

All of these strats are cool looking and great sounding, but this new black strat with the stock hot ceramic pickups really sounds remarkable with its bright and powerful sound and the tone is very satisfying as well.

It is a class act guitar.

My third Strat ever, a 2004 50th. Had it only a few weeks. Was advertised as used, but still had the plastic on the pickguard. No wear at all. Had exactly what I wanted in a Strat: maple board, ash body, two point trem, and was set up almost perfectly, at a really good price. Being mainly a Tele player, I could never find a Strat that I could bond with, until this one. The main failing I find with most Strats is the bridge pup. The Tele just has more presence than the Strat. If only Fender could put a real Tele pup in the bridge.

I have a 50th American Series Strat too. Awesome guitar in every respect. The tone is super duper. I was fortunate to stumble across a second hand one in awesome condition at a great price, something that I thought would never happen.

I own the 60th Anniversary American Strat and it's a great guitar. Lightweight, Great neck with compound radius, Great pickups, contoured heel.

Definitely one of my favorite Strats.

A lot of strats have come and gone over the years -- but my all-time favorite is an unlikely candidate -- a vintage modified Squier 70's strat in black with tinted maple neck.

Light weight sounds great.

Best Strat I have owned/played is the one I just put together yesterday with a Clapton neck, EJ body, and loaded with a set of the Fender Pure VIntage Anniversary 1954 pickups. It weighs under 7lbs, it's simply incredible.

Since I posted my initial responses, I've had my '95 AMSTD completely renovated neck wise. That was my main issue, no good set up, a hard fighter, and chipping the poly like crazy until it all came off. Disgusted, I was about to sell it when I thought WTH, might as well get a 21yr old guitar redone, which I did.

It is now the easiest player of my two, the tint is perfect on the neck and the jumbo frets are really effortless to play. So it shares the "best strat" category with my MiM...It sounds pretty great too.

This one. After many builds and permutations, I've settled on my perfect Strat. Warmoth hard tail body, MIM neck, vintage tuners. Pups are Lace Sensor Hot Golds (6K). The wiring harness is custom built and will give me all thirty-five possible combinations of three pickups. The bridge pups are wired as a single unit.

My #1

I'm late to this thread.

It would be the one I built. Total Warmoth build. Fender Fat '50s and I tapped a few of the low poles up to level out the poles a bit.

Light alder body finished with tung oil. '50s neck carve, 1.75" wide nut, maple neck also finished with tung oil. Frets are the gold-colored alloy Warmoth uses. They are harder than standard frets but not as hard a SS.

The whole guitar is about 8lbs 8oz, IIRC. Plays really well. Has the Strat tones I love. I'm not a Strat guy but this one floats my boat as much a a Strat could. :-)

my best Strat is a frankenstein guitar. A neck from a Chinese "Starcaster by Fender" strat with a body from a Starfire Ibanez from the 1990ies. I put on neck position a Japanese boutique P94 ("De Young") pickup, on the mniddle a no name Japanese strat pickup from the 1970ies ("Rocky") and on the bridge an old Di Marzio HB from the 1970ies.
This guitar blew my mind though I didn'T play it for a long time now. It rots in a corner. May be I restring it and start again!

"...The wiring harness is custom built and will give me all thirty-five possible combinations of three pickups..."

Technical point: When you take into account all possible variations and combinations of series, parallel and phase, there are 47 ways to wire three pickups.

Which is not to take anything away from your exceptional and cleanly-executed Strat.

My white (Now Palomino-Colored) Eric Johnson Stratocaster is EASILY the best Strat I have ever owned.....and I have owned more than a few!

In my personal opinion, the Eric Johnson Strat is THE BEST Value in the entire Fender Line-up, hands-down.

I've whittled it down from 21 guitars to one Strat. and one Tele..
I painstakingly made the decision to keep my 2011 closet classic pro. I find the resonance of the pine body is like none of my other Strats, I can literally feel every note vibrate through the body to mine The master design pickups are very articulate and allow every note to stand out no matter how much dirt I dial up. The C shape neck is a nice fit for my hands. I like the copper color, it's understated and not too flashy, sort of like me. This is by no means the most expensive Stratocaster I have owned, but I consider it to be the best.

^ By definition then it's also the worst Strat that you've ever owned. :)

I'll bet it's a good one.

I have 4, but my '56 Reissue is by far my favorite. Practically plays itself, and sounds so incredible with the NOS stuff. She's in whitewash white ash.

I have 3 different Strat my favorite is an American Vintage 70s Reissue. It's pretty amazing has an excellent tone and is the same model Hendrix used in Woodstock. Nonetheless I have a Brazilian Fender with fat50 in neck and Tex Mex on bridge n medium and believe me it's awesome too, very wonderful sound even with this a little crazy setup.
