I do some DJ'ing on occasion.. My system consists of 2 4x12 columns which was close to 100 pounds a piece. I'm not 25 anymore so I was thinking of looking at a smaller system. I've seen the Fender Passport system, and wondered if anyone had used them for playing music, what sized rooms they can handle, any of the good bad and ugly..

Mike, I used one once a long time back, and although it worked, it was all plastic and seemed quite fragile. Not a whole lot of low end.

I have the Passport 150. Good for vocals in a small setting, that's about it. But a convenient package. For DJing, you'd need more thump than even the bigger models pack. Maybe add a sub?

Check out the HK Audio systems portable PA, we have the Impact model which has 1200 watts RMS and all weighs less than our old amp alone.

Played for years with one of the first generato passports. Handled two vocals and two acoustic guitars in coffeehouses and small bars just fine. A few times we had four vocals and two acoustics and a bass via a small mixer into the aux channels.

Passport Pro500 with a powered sub. Small to mid sized bars. I've used mine outside at a festival and was told it sounded great.

PS: Hey Shunka, I moved from Willoughby about 14 yrs ago. Wayne Reed here. Just wondered if we know each other.

It's actually made by Sanyo.

You need to modfy it with a cooling fan to make it reliable.
