More fuel for Jazzmaster desire. I cannot find Norah Jones and her band's live performance of this song on Conan that was done just a day or so earlier....a superior recording to this one....but in both recordings the Jazzmaster in it sings like no guitar I've ever heard.

Jason Roberts is the guitarist playing this gem of an instrument.

I would recommend a traditional style Jazzmaster with the rocking bridge, JM style tailpiece, the works. So many JMs are that in body shape only these days. Even the Squire Vintage Modified Jazzmaster is a good guitar. ( I have the Jag)

I have a MIJ '68 reissue JM that is a wonderful guitar.

Smart girl! (;^D)

I love my Thinskin Jazzmaster - one of the nicest guitars I've ever owned.

I'll echo Hammond101's recommendation of the traditional style models. The hardtail versions are kinda cool, but don't capture the true sound and feel of a "real" JM.
That "offset trem" design is unique and adds so much to the guitar. And those big single coils deliver tones that nothing else quite matches.

And it's also true that the Squier's are quite nice, if her budget is limited. The J Mascis model has gotten rave reviews from day one.

Edit to add pic...

Yea, go with a traditionalish model.

The Mascis has a TOM bridge but the correct trem system, and frankly, It sounds like a Jazzmaster down to the behind the bridge harp effects.

Stupid well-done for what it is, if you can stomach the color option (i.e. there is none!).

Mine is magical.

The Jazzmaster is a very cool guitar I link my review on my 65 Reisue below. As the the others have said try and get the traditional model.

On the Squire Modified Model I used to have the Jag version and it was very rattly on the bridge and would need a fair bit of work to setup.
