I want to find someone who gives organ lessons. Not piano. Organ.

I know it's the same concept but then again, it isn't. I have heard piano players that think they can play organ. They can't.

Piano teachers are a dime a dozen. Suggestions on where to start and where to look?

Check the nearest university with a reputable fine arts department...may find some talented organ instructors but probably more classically oriented stylistically...also check with the nearest chapter of the American Guild of Organists...

I think so much of it is organ dependent, as well as genre. The interaction between the specific model, drawbars, controls, leslie or sims, etc. My brother in law was a fine boogie/stride pianist and we gigged for years with him primarily on piano. Now he's got an Organ trio (organ, guitar and drums) and has it down. He's holding the bass down with the left hand. They retool depending on the gig. Jazz for some functions and oddball covers from "More Today Than Yesterday" to "Smoke On The Water" for the more classic rock clubs.
